Marc Krauss (back) aims to return to action Friday.

Krauss has been out of the Angels' Cactus League lineup for the last four days with back discomfort, but he felt fine while hitting in camp Thursday. The 27-year-old was off to a pretty good start in his bid for a bench spot, batting .500 (9-for-18) in 13 spring games.
Mar 26 - 3:37 PM

Yankees released RHP Jared Burton.

Burton strained his lat on March 19, ending any outside shot he had at making the Yankees' Opening Day roster. He was in camp on a non-guaranteed minors deal.
Mar 26 - 3:23 PM

Daniel Murphy (hamstring) ran Thursday without issue.

He also made it through some light baseball drills on Wednesday. Murphy pulled his hamstring a week ago but seems likely to be fine for the start of the season.
Mar 26 - 3:21 PM

White Sox manager Robin Ventura admitted Thursday that David Robertson has battled some forearm soreness this spring.

That might help explain Robertson's 7.71 Cactus League ERA. Ventura added that he's not concerned about the $46 million closer being ready for Opening Day, but this is obviously something to monitor. Robertson had a 3.08 ERA with 39 saves and a 96/23 K/BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings last season with the Yankees. Zach Putnam and Jake Petricka are presumably next in line for saves in Chicago, though they're not worth grabbing yet in non-holds leagues.
Mar 26 - 3:18 PM

Christian Vazquez (elbow) expressed confidence Thursday that he will be ready for the season-opener.

Vazquez has appeared in just one game since March 13 due to elbow soreness, but he threw to bases Thursday in Red Sox camp and felt good. Boston's young starting catcher will play in a minor league game Friday.
Mar 26 - 3:15 PM

Chris Tillman said Thursday that he doesn't want to discuss his contract with the Orioles beyond Opening Day.

So that's the deadline for the current negotiations between the O's and Tillman's agent. Tillman can't become a free agent until 2018, but the Orioles are interested in buying out his arbitration years (at the very least). The 26-year-old right-hander boasts a 3.42 ERA and 1.195 WHIP in 499 2/3 innings over the last three seasons.
Mar 26 - 3:11 PM

Nationals manager Matt Williams acknowledged that Jayson Werth still experiences some soreness in his surgically-repaired right shoulder when he tries to hit.

"You do run out of time," Williams responded when asked whether Werth will be ready for Opening Day. The veteran outfielder still hasn't been cleared for full-on live batting practice and seems highly doubtful to be active on April 6. Nate McLouth is also at risk of missing the opener due to a shoulder injury, so it could be Tyler Moore in left field for the Nats.
Mar 26 - 2:45 PM

Bryce Harper was sent home early from Nationals camp on Thursday due to a stomach virus.

Harper tried some light swinging but didn't feel so great. He's expected to return to Grapefruit League action Friday and he'll be in right field for the Nats on Opening Day. Harper has a homer, a stolen base, and an .829 OPS in 12 games this spring.
