Bears promoted S DeAndre Houston-Carson from the practice squad.

Sep 19 - 3:31 PM

Bears waived WR Tanner Gentry.

A popular summer sleeper, Gentry was added to the 53-man roster after Week 1, and caught two passes in his Week 2 debut against the Bucs. His release is a disappointment for owners who took a flier in Dynasty leagues. It's a bit of a surprise from the receiver-desperate Bears, who will try to stash Gentry back on the practice squad.

The Chicago Tribune reports ex-Bears and Panthers CB Charles "Peanut" Tillman is training to join the FBI.

The FBI wouldn't confirm it, but the Tribune's report is based on "multiple individuals, including a "high-ranking law enforcement source." Prospective agents must be no younger than 37 upon the time of their appointment. Tillman turns 37 next February. We wish Tillman success in his career changeup.

James Harrison has played just four snaps through the Steelers' first two games.

Even with some injuries to their front seven, the Steelers have kept 39-year-old Harrison glued to the sideline. "We know what James is capable of," coach Mike Tomlin said. "James will ready himself, and there will be a time in the season when we’ll call on his services, and he’ll deliver and deliver in a big way." Harrison was excellent in 2016, generating consistent heat. Right now, the Steelers would apparently rather go with their younger players. Perhaps they view Harrison as an ace in the hole, or perhaps he started to look his age in the offseason.
Sep 19 - 2:40 PM

Panthers promoted FB Alexander Armah from the practice squad.

A combination fullback/defensive end for West Georgia, 6-foot-2, 235-pound Armah was the No. 192 overall pick of the draft. With Greg Olsen on injured reserve and Ed Dickson ticketed for more pass-catching duties, Armah will help out in the blocking department.
Sep 19 - 2:32 PM

Panthers placed TE Greg Olsen on injured reserve with a broken foot.

Olsen underwent surgery on his broken right foot Tuesday. He's dealing with a "Jones" fracture. Julio Jones, Marvin Jones, Sammy Watkins and the NBA's Kevin Durant have all dealt with "Jones" fractures in recent years. The Panthers believe Olsen will return this season. He's eligible to practice after six weeks, and game action after eight. Ed Dickson takes over as the Panthers' starter. He won't be more than a low-end TE2 for fantasy purposes.

Troy Hill - DB - Rams

Rams activated CB Troy Hill from the reserve/suspended list.

A third-year UDFA, the Rams have stuck with Hill for a surprisingly long time. He was ineffective under Jeff Fisher, and his suspension stemmed from a drunk driving arrest. He'll contribute as a special teamer and reserve corner.
Sep 19 - 2:20 PM

Cardinals released TE Jim Dray.

He was signed last week with Jermaine Gresham set to miss Sunday's game with injured ribs. Releasing him suggests Gresham will be back this week.
