Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that the club is "open-minded" about Madison Bumgarner returning on Friday.

Bumgarner had been slated to make several minor league rehab starts, but with as well as he pitched in his debut with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, the plan may change. He'll throw around 70 pitches in his next outing, so even if he does return he probably isn't worth using from a fantasy perspective in that first start back.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution believes that the Braves will wait until Monday to announce the results of Ronald Acuna's exams.

Acuna was taken to the hospital for further evaluation after leaving Sunday's game with a left leg injury. Fantasy owners should have a contingency plan in place in the event that Acuna winds up on the disabled list.

Frankie Montas quieted the Diamondbacks' bats Sunday in his season debut, holding them to one run over six innings in a 2-1 Athletics win.

Montas, who owned 4.39 ERA in nine starts with the A's Triple-A affiliate, dominated an admittedly diluted Diamondbacks lineup, but they all count the same. He gave up just three hits and walked two while punching out seven in the debut, earning the win for his efforts. The A's made the move to give Trevor Cahill another day of rest between starts, but given Montas' success it will be interesting to see how they handle their rotation going forward. It's a situation worth watching, and given Sunday's performance and the 25-year-old's history as a top prospect just a few years ago he could be a speculative add for fantasy owners with a roster spot to burn.

Ketel Marte went hitless in four at-bats Sunday and is now hitting .212 on the year.

Marte was given a golden opportunity as the starting second baseman for a good (at least in theory) offensive team, but he's never managed to get anything going this year. He's got just one homer and one steal in 49 games, and Marte is hitting .212/.271/.299 in 184 at-bats. The D'backs aren't rife with better options, but they could surely find someone -- anyone -- who could replicate his offensive output to date.

Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

With a pair of runners on in a tied game in the sixth inning, Chapman yanked a Zack Greinke pitch to left field, bringing in the eventual game-winning run. The two-hit game broke an 0-for-17 slide coming into the game. It's been an up and down year for the 25-year-old, who was one of the best hitters in baseball for the first few weeks before going ice cold at the start of May. Overall, Chapman is hitting .237/.329/.437 with eight homers, 22 RBI and 32 runs scored and is really only a fantasy consideration in deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

Blake Treinen worked a perfect ninth inning Sunday against the Diamondbacks to earn his 12th save of the year.

Tasked with preserving a one-run lead, Treinen struck out Jake Lamb, induced a fly out from Daniel Descalso and got Ketel Marte to ground out to end the game. He's been terrific through 20 appearances on the year, putting up a microscopic 1.04 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 33/8 K/BB ratio over 26 innings. A year after struggling in the Nationals' closer role, the 29-year-old is proving his ability, and ability to close, in a big way.
May 27 - 8:49 PM

Zack Greinke allowed two runs over six innings but took the loss Sunday against the Athletics.

Greinke gave up six hits and walked three while striking out five in the game. Despite the effort, his offense couldn't figure out spot starter Frankie Montas, saddling him with his fourth loss. That's been the story for the 34-year-old of late, as he's 0-2 in his last five starts despite a 2.64 ERA in those starts. Overall, Greinke is 3-4 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 72/10 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings. A Saturday matchup with the Marlins could prove friendlier for the right-hander.
May 27 - 8:45 PM

Jonathan Lucroy connected for his first home run of the season in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Lucroy turned on a Zack Greinke offering in the third inning for a solo homer, giving the A's the early lead. The power deficiency to date was somewhat surprising, given Lucroy's past as an offensive force. His struggles last year suggested those days might be gone, but he's been at least passable -- he's hitting .261/.323/.359 after Sunday -- at the plate this year, even if the power production has been absent. Sometimes that first one is the hardest to get, so perhaps Lucroy is ready to muscle up on a more consistent basis.
