Aaron Gordon made 7-of-11 from the field for 18 points with three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one turnover in 24 minutes against the Hawks on Saturday.
The shift to power forward has been huge for him, especially when it comes to shot selection. A whopping 65.0 percent of his shots have come from within three feet, which explains why he's made 55.0 percent from the field in those two games. This move could save his fantasy value going forward and should start finally trending up after a terrible start.
Stephen Curry is starting as expected on Saturday vs. the Nets.
He got the day off at Friday's practice because he has some general soreness and there was a slight concern that he would be rested tonight, but he will play and should be a usage rate monster with Kevin Durant (hand) on the shelf. Deploy Curry like you normally would.
Nikola Vucevic scored 16 points with 14 rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks and two turnovers in 29 minutes against the Hawks on Saturday.
He popped up on the injury report this afternoon due to some Achilles soreness, but he didn't look limited in one of his better two-way games of the season. His fantasy owners may want to keep an eye on Vucevic here, but the Magic will be off until Mar. 1. That should get him right and hopefully he can flirt with early-round value on a thin Magic frontcourt.
Dennis Schroder did not start on Saturday because he was late for the team bus, finishing with 11 points, five rebounds, eight assists and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes during a 105-86 loss to the Magic.
Yikes. He did start the second half in this game after a really bad start from the Hawks. The move to keep Schroder in the second unit was called a "coaches decision" just minutes before tip. The timing of this is terrible because the German point guard did not bring his visa for his trip back home, which caused him to miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday to earn a suspension on Friday. He should be back to his former role, especially after the Hawks were smashed in the last two games.
Mike Muscala did not score in three minutes against the Magic on Saturday with two assists.
The Ersan Ilyasova deal takes away just about any chance Muscala has to get power forward minutes. If you used him as a deep option in fantasy, it's probably time to move on.
Paul George was ejected from Saturday's game vs. the Heat.
He picked up two technical fouls and was ejected with 8:49 left in the third quarter. George finishes the game with 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting with one rebound and one assist in 19 minutes. He's in no danger of being suspended for Monday's game vs. the Rockets.
Malcolm Delaney made his second NBA start against the Magic on Saturday, scoring two points with four assists in just 15 minutes.
Dennis Schroder came off the bench to give Delaney a big chance again, but it just did not go well for the rookie. We've seen Delaney play well at times and even close games out over Schroder, but we've seen him go through numerous slumps as well. His appeal as a deep handcuff has lost a lot of its luster.
Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 15 points with three rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes against the Magic on Saturday.
Even with Thabo Sefolosha back, THJ is expected to stick in the starting lineup for at least one more game. While Hardaway did play well on the offensive end, the Hawks getting blown out in the last two games probably doesn't help his case to start going forward. Although, Dennis Schroder not starting is probably a factor. Hardaway Jr. is still a low-end hold in standard leagues, assuming a hot free agent isn't out there.
