Hector Neris snared a win by tossing a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Reds.

Neris was brought in to pitch the top of the ninth in a tie game. He issued one base-on-balls and struck out two batters. The Phillies scored a run in the bottom of the inning to credit Neris with his second win of the season. The Phillies' primary closer has four saves with a 3.09 ERA in 22 games. He has 24 strikeouts and six walks in 23 1/3 innings.

Jerad Eickhoff allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings while taking a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday.

He gave up a two-run blast to Zack Cozart in the first inning, then kept the Reds off the board until the sixth inning when he allowed his third and final run. He surrendered eight hits and one walk while notching four strikeouts in the contest. Eickhoff has yet to win a game through 10 starts this season. He has five losses and a 4.74 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 57 innings. His fantasy owners should see better results in wins and ERA moving forward.

Tommy Joseph hit a solo home run and delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Reds on Saturday.

His single to center field scored Aaron Altherr with the winning run in dramatic fashion. He homered off veteran Bronson Arroyo earlier in the game. Joseph was brutally bad in the month of April but has turned his season around of late. For the season he is batting .255/.313/.476 with eight home runs and 24 RBI. That slash line is very close to the .257/.308/.505 line he yielded in his promising rookie campaign a year ago.

Cesar Hernandez went 2-for-4 and smacked a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Reds.

His first-inning longball off starter Bronson Arroyo was the first of three solo dingers the Phillies would launch against Arroyo in the game. Hernandez has a .293 batting average with five home runs and 12 RBI. His 35 runs scored rank seventh in the majors.
May 27 - 7:32 PM

Zack Cozart went 4-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer but the Reds still lost to the Phillies on Saturday.

After Billy Hamilton led off the gave with a bunt single and stolen base, Cozart drilled a Jerad Eickhoff pitch over the left field wall to give the Reds an early lead. Cozart also doubled in the game and reached base in all five of his opportunities. He is wielding a potent bat his season, slashing .355/.433/.592 with five homers, 27 runs and 25 RBI. The 31-year-old has never hit this well for a full season so he is bound to cool down at some point. He is likely to be traded to a contender at some point this summer.

Jarrett Parker (shoulder) took on-field batting practice on Saturday.

Parker was also seen running the bases and making throws in the outfield. The Giants are hoping he'll be back in about two weeks, which is around the time he'll be eligible to come off the 60-day DL. Parker broke his collarbone running into the left field wall for a catch earlier this year.

Red Sox optioned LHP Brian Johnson to Triple-A Pawtucket.

That's life in the big leagues for you. Less than an hour after hurling nine shutout innings in a win over the Mariners, Johnson is already on his way back to the minors. Boston finally has a full rotation with David Price due back on Monday, but Johnson should get another shot later this summer.
May 27 - 7:22 PM

Scooter Gennett went 2-for-4 and drove in a run with a double during Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

He drove in Eugenio Suarez with a double in the sixth inning that tied the game at 3-3. It was a score that held until the Phillies walked off in the bottom of the ninth. Gennett has made the most of his limited playing time in his first season as a Red, batting .315/.344/.522 with three homers and 18 RBI in 92 at-bats.
