Marcell Ozuna was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday afternoon's game against the Royals because he overslept.

The Cardinals had to send somebody to Ozuna's apartment to wake him up and he did not arrive at Busch Stadium until after the game had started. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny came to Ozunza's defense in his postgame presser, telling reporters that Ozuna "couldn’t be any more regretful for not being here today on time" and that the team would "move forward." But it's obviously a really bad look for a guy who's batting just .253/.295/.331 through 44 games in his first year with the club.

Tyler Lyons (back) will be activated from the 10-day bullpen on Friday before the Cardinals' game against the Pirates.

Lyons will travel with the team, and then be activated for the series-opener against Pittsburgh. He's been out since May 9 with a mid back strain, and he's registered a 6.17 ERA over 18 relief appearances.

Clayton Kershaw (biceps) threw an extended bullpen session on Wednesday.

Manger Dave Roberts told reports that Kershaw "felt good" after the bullpen, although he added that it was more about how he felt physically than his execution. The star southpaw will next throw a simulated game on Saturday assuming there are no setbacks from the bullpen, and then he'll likely make 1-2 rehab starts before rejoining the Dodgers' rotation at some point in early June.

Jerad Eickhoff (lat) will visit a surgeon who specializes in Thoracic Outlet Syndrome to discuss the nerve issues in his fingers.

Eickhoff felt a twinge at the tips of his middle and index finger when throwing breaking-balls in his rehab start on Monday. He'll visit with Dr. Robert Thompson, a vascular surgeon who specializes in Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. For now, We should know more about the next steps for the right-hander after the visit.

Josh Lucas will start against the Mariners on Thursday.

This will essentially be a bullpen day for the Athletics, as Lucas will likely get to go through the lineup one time or throw around 50 pitches -- whichever comes first. In two games for the A's, Lucas has registered a 1.35 ERA over 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
May 23 - 7:27 PM

Matt Davidson was scratched from Wednesday's game against the Orioles with back stiffness.

Davidson was originally in the starting lineup, but was pulled before the game in favor of Jose Rondon, who is in the lineup as the designated hitter and hitting seventh against Baltimore. For now, Davidson should be considered day-to-day, but he'll likely undergo further testing in the coming days.
May 23 - 7:23 PM

Freddy Galvis doubled twice in a win over the Nationals on Wednesday.

Galvis now has seven doubles on the season, and he scored his 18th run of the year as well. He's swung the bat much better as of late, but he's still hitting just .236 on the season with 13 RBI and three homers over his 51 games with San Diego in the 2018 campaign.
May 23 - 7:20 PM

Manuel Margot went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a victory over the Nationals on Wednesday.

Margot gave the Padres a 1-0 lead with an RBI single off of Erick Fedde in the fifth, and he stole his sixth base of the season shortly after. The former Red Sox prospect is still struggling at the plate, as he is still hitting .191/.234/.287 with a homer, 12 RBI and six stolen bases over eight attempts in 38 games.
