Jordan Walden is seeking a second opinion for his right biceps inflammation.

Walden had MRI's on his shoulder and bicep. He was complaining about shoulder stiffness on Saturday. While the hope is that there's no structural damage to the arm and that this is merely inflammation, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak has indicated that there's at least some concern this could be more serious. Sam Tuivailala has taken Walden's spot in the bullpen.

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) hopes to return from the disabled list in four-to-six weeks.

Lucroy broke his big left toe after being hit on a foul tip on April 20th. He's optimistic that the injury won't keep him out much longer than four weeks. Martin Maldonado and Juan Centeno are handling catching duties with Lucroy on the shelf.

Hunter Harvey (fibula) tossed three innings in an extended spring training game on Tuesday.

Harvey had been held out of game action for the last six weeks because of a fractured right fibula that he suffered near the end of spring training. The 20-year-old pitching prospect should be ready to join one of the Orioles' minor league affiliates in a couple weeks.
May 5 - 5:51 PM

Matt Wieters (elbow) caught six innings Tuesday in an extended spring training game.

But the rehabbing catcher still hasn't been able to catch on back-to-back days due to lingering soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow. Wieters seems doubtful to make his 2015 debut before late May or early June.
May 5 - 5:47 PM

Matt Albers underwent surgery for his finger injury and will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks.

Albers was placed on the disabled list April 25 and his finger hadn't improved much over the last 10 days. The right-handed reliever can now be ruled out until at least mid-June. He injured his finger in Chicago's brawl with the Royals on April 23.
May 5 - 5:45 PM

Marco Gonzales (pectoral) is scheduled to return to the Triple-A Memphis rotation on Saturday.

Gonzales has been on the shelf since April 22 with a sore left pectoral muscle. If he pitches well on Saturday, the Cardinals might go ahead and insert the 23-year-old left-hander into their starting rotation next week. There's a vacancy with Adam Wainwright (heel) ruled out for the remainder of the 2015 season, and Gonzales is capable of providing a good amount of fantasy production in that spot.
May 5 - 5:43 PM

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times confirms that Alex Cobb has a partial ligament tear in his right elbow.

Cobb is going to try to pitch through it, but pitchers who suffer torn elbow ligaments almost always wind up undergoing Tommy John surgery. Cobb, 27, posted a 2.87 ERA, 1.136 WHIP, and 149/47 K/BB ratio over 166 1/3 innings last season. It's obviously a really bad situation for the Rays, who are off to a decent start in 2015.
May 5 - 5:36 PM

Jaime Garcia (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment on Sunday.

Garcia made it through another extended spring training game Tuesday without issue. There's an opening in the Cardinals' rotation with Adam Wainwright ruled out for the season because of a ruptured Achilles tendon, but Marco Gonzales looks like the better bet to fill it. Garcia hasn't been able to stay discomfort-free for an extended period of time.
