Ian Kennedy gave up only one run and struck out six batters in seven strong innings on Saturday, but had to settle for a no-decision against the Rangers.

He allowed six hits and no walks in the stellar outing. Kennedy has struck out 123 batters in 121 1/3 innings this season, which is excellent. But he has already allowed 26 home runs, which is why his record is 6-9 with a 4.23 ERA.

Dee Gordon went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and three runs scored as the Marlins skunked the Cardinals 11-0 on Saturday.

In his third game back from suspension, Gordon showed what the Marlins were missing, stealing his seventh base of the year and playing catalyst atop the lineup. The three runs gives him 17 runs scored in 24 games this year. With a couple of good games in recent days, Gordon has his line up to .264/.291/.340 and climbing.

Christian Yelich finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in a lopsided win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Yelich had a pair of doubles and a run-scoring single on the night, giving him 57 RBI and 54 runs scored in 98 games played. The 24-year-old is seventh in the National League with his .320 batting average, and his .886 OPS isn't bad, either. He's part of a young core that has the Marlins in contention for a postseason spot as the calendar prepares to turn to August.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Indians contacted the Padres about Derek Norris on Saturday.

The Indians are still considered the frontrunners to land Jonathan Lucroy but if that falls through, it looks like Norris would be their fallback option. The Padres seem to be trading their whole team, so odds are pretty strong that Norris will be wearing a new uniform by August 1.

Mitch Moreland whacked a walk-off home run to lead the Rangers over the Royals on Saturday.

The home run off Brooks Pounders landed in the upper deck in right field. It was his 17th home run of the season in 294 at-bats. He has hit for excellent power but has been mediocre in terms of batting average (.245) and on-base percentage (.311). Playing time has been sporadic for Moreland this year and is likely to remain that way.

Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run home run and scored twice in Saturday's win over the Cardinals.

Ozuna hit a two-run shot off Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia in the first inning of the rout. The homer was his second in as many days, giving him 19 dingers on the year. It has been a strong season all around for the 25-year-old, who is batting .298/.351/.520 overall.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Rockies will not be trading Carlos Gonzalez or Charlie Blackmon.

Both players have come up in trade rumors but the Rockies are the hottest team in baseball right now and are only four back in the Wild Card race. If anything, the Rockies will be buyers at the trade deadline as they look to make the playoffs for the first time in seven years. CarGo has been an integral part of Colorado's resurgence, hitting .309 since the All-Star break with two homers and 12 RBI.

Jaime Garcia was knocked around by the Marlins for six runs over 3 1/3 innings in a start on short rest Saturday.

The Cardinals needed a pitcher for Saturday's game after a doubleheader earlier in the week threw off their schedule, and Cards manager Mike Matheny opted for Garcia on three days' rest instead of an alternative like Tyler Lyons. Garcia didn't respond well, as the Marlins got to him for four runs in the first inning before chasing him in the fourth. The loss dropped him to 7-8 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.38 WHIP on the year. Back on normal rest, Garcia will take the hill Friday against the Braves.
