Dodgers recalled RHP Ross Stripling from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The 26-year-old right-hander has appeared in nine games for the Dodgers in 2016, compiling a 4.53 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 34/18 K/BB ratio. He's expected to work in a long relief role for the Dodgers.

Mookie Betts (knee) is not in the Red Sox starting lineup on Saturday.

Betts was removed from Friday's game due to what has been termed as minor soreness in his right knee, but manager John Farrell wanted to be safe and give him an extra day to rest. Expect to see him back atop the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

Angels optioned C Juan Graterol to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The club wanted more experience behind the plate so they recalled the hot-hitting Carlos Perez from Triple-A on Saturday. Graterol will continue to serve as organizational catching depth for the Halos.

Angels recalled C Carlos Perez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Perez was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the month when Geovany Soto returned from the disabled list, but is needed back due to the lack of catching depth. He was also stinging the ball at Triple-A, going 11-for-31 with five extra base hits since his demotion.

Diamondbacks placed INF Nick Ahmed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip impingement.

Ahmed may have been expendable anyways with Chris Owings returning from the disabled list. He was hitting just .218/.265/.299 with a 58/15 K/BB ratio in 284 at-bats with the Diamondbacks before suffering the hip injury.
Jul 23 - 3:21 PM

Diamondbacks activated INF/OF Chris Owings from the 15-day disabled list.

He's active and with the club for Saturday's game. Owings has been sidelined since June 11 due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He's expected to platoon in center field with Michael Bourn.
Jul 23 - 3:19 PM

Athletics transferred LHP Fernando Rodriguez to the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing has changed in the progress of the injured left-hander, this was done merely as a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Bruce Maxwell who joined the A's on Saturday.
Jul 23 - 3:08 PM

Athletics placed C/1B Stephen Vogt on the family emergency medical leave list.

Vogt has a family matter that he needs to tend to for a couple of days, so the Athletics brought up Bruce Maxwell from Triple-A to help handle the load behind the plate.
