Eagles released WR Chris Givens.
The Philadelphia Inquirer predicted this was coming last week. A 2012 fourth-round pick, Givens turned in a promising rookie campaign with the Rams (42-698-3), but his career has been in a tailspin ever since. It's an especially ominous sign for Givens that he couldn't crack one of the NFL's worst receiver corps.
Jerick McKinnon rushed eight times for 56 yards and caught 2-of-2 targets for nine yards in the Vikings' third preseason game.
McKinnon re-confirmed his explosive ability and adeptness in the passing game. Beat writers believe McKinnon's receiving role will increase this year, as it should. While standalone value may still be hard to come by, McKinnon would become an every-week fantasy starter if something happened to Adrian Peterson.
LaQuon Treadwell caught his only target for 15 yards in Sunday’s regular season dress rehearsal.
It came on a quick hitter from third-string QB Joel Stave early in the fourth quarter. Treadwell also snagged a two-point conversion on a goal-line fade from Shaun Hill. He climbed the ladder to make an impressive catch over Chargers corner Trevor Williams. Treadwell logged nine snaps in the first half compared to 29 for Stefon Diggs, 25 for Charles Johnson and 17 for Adam Thielen. He’ll enter his rookie year with some depth chart ground to make up.
Charles Johnson secured 2-of-3 targets for 25 yards in Sunday’s regular season dress rehearsal.
Both grabs came on Minnesota’s final drive of the first half. Johnson didn’t do anything to leap off the page, but he out-snapped every Vikings receiver in the first half except for Stefon Diggs. It’s hard to trust Johnson after what he put fantasy owners through last season, but he is going to be a Week 1 starter.
Larry Fitzgerald is sitting out Sunday's regular season dress rehearsal.
Fitz has been battling a "slight" MCL sprain, so the Cards won't take any chances. There's yet to be an indication it's a concern for Fitz's Week 1 status. Last year's WR9 overall is a solid WR3.
Greg Olsen (back) has resumed practicing at Panthers camp.
The Panthers have taken it easy on Olsen, holding him out of their regular season dress rehearsal. He also missed some practice time with back spasms. Olsen's back might limit his practice participation early in the season, but he's in no danger of missing games. He remains a top-three fantasy tight end.
Falcons rookie WR Devin Fuller may need shoulder surgery.
A second opinion will determine whether he goes under the knife, which suggests the first opinion was that Fuller indeed needs surgery. A seventh-round pick out of UCLA, Fuller was fighting for the Falcons' No. 5 receiver spot.
Stefon Diggs got 5-of-5 targets for 71 yards in Sunday's preseason game.
Diggs finishes the preseason with seven grabs for 82 yards. Moving all over the formation this summer, Diggs enters Week 1 as the Vikings' clear-cut No. 1 receiver. Diggs is a born playmaker, but still figures to be inconsistent in the Vikings' run-first offense. He's a WR3/4.
