Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called Fred Jackson's visit "not a signing."
It sounds like the Seahawks were merely kicking the tires/updating their emergency list. No. 2 back Robert Turbin is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, and F-Jax would be a readymade replacement were Turbin unavailable for Week 1.
Seahawks FS Earl Thomas (shoulder) will be ready for Week 1.
Coach Pete Carroll said Thomas is as ready to go as "we can get him." It's been a long recovery for the Seahawks' stud safety, but he'll be ready to rock against the Rams. Thomas has never missed a game.
Seahawks RB Robert Turbin is dealing with a high-ankle sprain.
It helps explain the Seahawks' interest in free agent Fred Jackson. Coach Pete Carroll says a signing isn't imminent, suggesting the team was hosting F-Jax just to get up to speed in case Turbin isn't ready for Week 1. Marshawn Lynch's handcuff should be considered week to week, and highly questionable for the opener.
Ealges waived ILB Emmanuel Acho (thumb surgery) with an injury settlement.
Acho will look for work as a special teamer once his thumb is back to 100 percent.
Cowboys waived TE Brandon Barden, WR David Porter, WR Antwan Goodley, LB Jonathan Brown, DE Kenneth Boatright, OT R.J Dill and RB Michael Hill.
Boatright, Dill and Hill were waived/injured, and will revert to injured reserve once they clear waivers. Barden's lone three regular season appearances came in 2012.
Cowboys placed OT Chaz Green (hip) on the reserve/PUP list.
A third-rounder, Green went under the knife in June. He'll be eligible to return in Week 8. Considering their depth along the offensive line, the Cowboys don't need Green to contribute this season.
Cowboys placed CB Orlando Scandrick (ACL, MCL) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Scandrick tore up his knee in practice last Tuesday. It's a big, big loss for the Cowboys, who now have a cornerback corps populated by youth, injury questions and free agent bust Brandon Carr. Scandrick, who turns 29 in February, is signed through 2019.
Falcons SLB Brooks Reed is getting a second opinion on his groin injury.
Coach Dan Quinn called the news a "concern." It sounds like Reed could need surgery.
