Yoenis Cespedes went 0-for-4 against the Mariners on Sunday.

Cespedes goes into the All-Star break on a 3-for-45 slide that's seen his overall line fall to .246/.299/.442. It's a disappointing development after a month of June in which he hit .324/.373/.491. He's shown the good and bad he has to offer, and owners just have to hope it's more good than bad in the second half.

Mike Trout went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI as the Angels beat the Rangers 10-7 on Sunday.

Trout knocked a three-run double in the second inning before tacking on an RBI double in the fourth. It's been another remarkable first half for the 22-year-old, who's among the American League leaders in most every offensive category. He'll continue to be the most valuable fantasy player in the game when the second half starts up Friday.
Jul 13 - 8:54 PM

Alex Rios went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Angels.

Rios delivered an RBI sacrifice fly in the first and a two-run double in the third inning, giving him 42 RBI on the year. The outfielder has been one of the lone bright spots in what's been a forgettable year for the Rangers. Rios is hitting .305/.333/.440 with 16 steals and 41 runs scored heading into the All-Star break.

Cardinals sent OF Mike O'Neill outright to Double-A Springfield.

O'Neill cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. The 26-year-old will continue to function as organizational depth in the outfield for the Cardinals.

Howie Kendrick went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Kendrick scored two of the Angels' 10 runs on the afternoon. The stolen base was his 11th of the year, and he's hitting .290/.348/.386 with 52 runs scored on the year. He should continue to produce good numbers in the season's second half.
Jul 13 - 8:41 PM

Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports that the Mariners have had serious discussions with the Phillies about acquiring outfielder Marlon Byrd.

There were reports earlier in the week that the Mariners had scouted the 36-year-old slugger. He's in the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract and has already indicated that he'd be willing to waive his no-trade clause. The Mariners are in desperate need for a right-handed power bat, and Byrd seems like a very logical fit.
Jul 13 - 8:38 PM

Albert Pujols went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Pujols continues to rake in the month of July, as Sunday was his eighth multi-hit game in 14 contests this month. He's 22-for-59 (.373) with 14 runs scored and 15 RBI in that span. It's part of an overall resurgence for the 34-year-old, who's hitting .279/.325/.491 with 64 RBI and 58 runs scored this year.

Dodgers optioned RHP Pedro Baez to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The 26-year-old right-hander appeared in two games during his time with the Dodgers, allowing a pair of runs on two hits, while striking out two. He should get another chance to work in middle relief for the Dodgers in the second half of the season.
