Lions waived RB Mikel Leshoure.
Undrafted rookie RB Silas Redd has made the Redskins' 53-man roster.
Redd finished preseason with 157 yards on 34 carries (4.6 YPC) and a touchdown, adding three receptions. The Skins are keeping him over more dynamic prospects Lache Seastrunk and Chris Thompson. The team fancies Redd as a more "complete" back, despite his 4.70 forty time and marginal acceleration.
Vikings placed SS Jamarca Sanford on injured reserve.
Sanford was unlikely to make the final roster, so this move will allows the Vikings' to retain his rights for another year. Sanford had 75 tackles in 12 starts for Minnesota last season.
Giants placed WR Mario Manningham (calf) and KR Trindon Holliday (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
Manningham was unlikely to make the final 53-man roster. He may be released with an injury settlement. Holliday missed all of Giants' camp with a hamstring injury.
Browns released RB Chris Ogbonnaya.
The Browns didn't want to expose five-star talent Isaiah Crowell to waivers, so they make a surprising cut of a versatile player who can lead block, catch and run in a pinch. Now they only have raw rookies Terrance West and Crowell behind Tate. It's good news for the projected catch total of Tate and West, as Ogbonnaya was thought to be headed for a third-down role.
Redskins placed ILB Darryl Sharpton on injured reserve/designated for return.
He suffered a high ankle sprain in preseason. Wasting the I.R./designated for return tag on a reserve inside linebacker and special teamer is a head-scratching move, but then again most of the moves made under the new Skins regime have been head scratching. Sharpton can come back after eight games.
Jets placed OLB Antwan Barnes (knee) on reserve/PUP.
Barnes, a seven-year veteran with 25.5 career sacks, tore his ACL in Week 5 of last season. He will have to sit out the first six games before being eligible for activation.
Panthers released CB James Dockery and DT Casey Walker.
Dockery had five tackles in five appearances for the Panthers last season before a torn labrum ended his season. Dockery has 24 career appearances, but only two starts. Walker dealt with a rib injury during camp.
