Cowboys SLB Bruce Carter will play through a broken left ring finger.

He suffered the injury in practice. Carter just returned from a three-week absence related to a groin issue. His health has taken on increased important with Justin Durant (biceps) out for the season.

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego, it's not a matter of "if" Chargers CB Jason Verrett will undergo shoulder surgery, but "when."

Per reporter Michael Gehlken, the question is "how long that procedure can be deferred." Verrett will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks, at which point the Bolts will decide if he can play hurt, or must go under the knife. It's a big blow, as Verrett has been one of the league's best defensive rookies.

Darren Sproles (knee) remained "full" in Thursday's practice.

Barring a setback, Sproles will be good to go as an RB3 in fantasy leagues.
Oct 30 - 2:43 PM

Brandon Flowers (concussion) has resumed practicing.

Flowers is now on track to return against the Dolphins. It's good news for the Chargers with Jason Verrett (shoulder) already ruled out for Week 9. Flowers is in the midst of a nice bounce-back season, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 corner through the season's first eight weeks.
Oct 30 - 2:27 PM

Jordan Cameron (concussion) remained sidelined Thursday.

Cameron can be all but ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bucs. The real question is if he'll be ready for Cleveland's Thursday night game in Week 10. The early signs are not promising.
Oct 30 - 2:15 PM

Doug Martin (ankle) remained sidelined at Bucs practice Thursday, but has shed his walking boot.

The fact that Martin has shed his boot offers a glimmer of hope for his Week 9 status, but most signs point toward him sitting out against the Browns. Reporter Greg Auman believes Bobby Rainey will lead the Bucs in touches in Martin's potential absence, but that rookie Charles Sims could earn a much bigger role going forward if he performs well. We'd consider Rainey a borderline RB2, and Sims a wait-and-see RB3.
Oct 30 - 2:08 PM

Geno Smith (shoulder) returned to full practice on Thursday.

The Jets absurdly claimed Smith's shoulder "injury" was a factor in his Week 8 benching, but anyone with a pulse knew better. Smith isn't injured, and will serve as Michael Vick's backup for Week 9.
Oct 30 - 2:02 PM

Owen Daniels (knee) was downgraded to "DNP" on Thursday.

Daniels was shockingly "limited" on Wednesday after getting his knee scoped last Friday, but isn't a good bet to suit up for Sunday night's game against the Steelers. Even if the Ravens try to make it appears as if he'll play, he can't be relied on as a TE1 at far less than 100 percent health.
