Carl Crawford (oblique) will resume his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday.

Crawford has been out the past couple of days due to flu-like symptoms. He worked out with the Dodgers on Friday and admitted that he should be ready to return to the club immediately after the All-Star break, though it's likely to be in a reserve role.
Jul 3 - 7:13 PM

Michael Cuddyer (knee) remained out of the Mets' starting lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers.

The veteran outfielder is still expected to avoid the disabled list. He received a cortisone injection on Wednesday and is expected to return to action at some point over the weekend.
Jul 3 - 7:11 PM

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Friday that he'd like to have Sonny Gray (illness) return to the rotation on Tuesday.

That way, the right-hander would be able to make two starts before the All-Star break. He had to have his last start skipped and required hospitalization due to a nasty bout of salmonella, but he seems to be doing much better now. Chris Bassitt will start in his place again on Sunday, so look for Gray to take Tuesday's series opener against the Yankees in New York.
Jul 3 - 7:06 PM

Athletics manager Bob Melvin admitted Friday that Coco Crisp (neck) has also been dealing with several kidney stones.

It's not much of a surprise that the oft-injured outfielder finds himself on the disabled list once again, and even while trying to recover from a neck issue, he's having other health problems. He isn't expected to rejoin the A's until after the All-Star break, and his chances of remaining healthy after his return are slim.
Jul 3 - 6:56 PM

Carlos Rodon will start for the White Sox on Sunday against the Orioles.

The White Sox, as anticipated, will push Chris Sale back a day and have him go against the Blue Jays on Monday. The 22-year-old hurler owns a 4.07 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 55/31 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings with the White Sox n his rookie season.
Jul 3 - 6:27 PM

Tony Cingrani (shoulder) threw a pair of scoreless innings in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Louisville on Friday.

The 25-year-old southpaw struck out three on the day, while allowing just one walk. He is expected to rejoin the Reds at some point before the All-Star break.
Jul 3 - 6:17 PM

Yonder Alonso is hitting leadoff for the first time in his career on Friday.

While he doesn't possess the prototypical speed that you'd like to see out of a leadoff hitter, he certainly gets on base enough to make it a worthwhile endeavor. It'll be interesting to see if it's a permanent move, or a one-time thing. Alonso is slashing .310/.399/.402 with two homers and 20 RBI in 54 games this season.
Jul 3 - 6:15 PM

The Mariners will not activate Hisashi Iwakuma (lat) from the disabled list to start on Sunday.

Mike Montgomery will stay on turn and take the ball Sunday. The Mariners have not made a decision on the next step for Iwakuma, but it's possible he'll make another rehab start. He could also rejoin Seattle's rotation early next week.
