Royals optioned OF Reymond Fuentes to Triple-A Omaha.

Fuentes was only in the majors for two games. The 24-year-old is no more than organizational outfield depth.

A's trainer Nick Paparesta said Coco Crisp could begin baseball activity on Monday.

That doesn't necessarily mean Crisp is close to a return but it's a step in the right direction. Crisp, who underwent right elbow surgery on April 3, was originally given a 6-to-8 week timetable. Sam Fuld has been manning the fort in center field during his absence. He doesn't offer much in the way of average or power but when healthy, Crisp can tear up the base paths.

Carlos Beltran (illness) is not in the Yankees' lineup on Saturday night against the Rays.

Beltran is dealing with flu-like symptoms and might miss Sunday's game as well. The veteran outfielder has produced a weak .184/.238/.289 slash line on the young season.
Apr 18 - 5:27 PM

Matt Holliday (back) is expected to be in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Sunday.

Holliday's back flared up on Saturday afternoon, leading to an early exit. But it's nothing serious and he should be good to go for Sunday night's series finale with the Reds. The veteran slugger is off to a hot start, hitting .364 with a team-high .476 OBP. He'll have a chance to extend his hitting streak to 11 games if he plays Sunday.
Apr 18 - 5:19 PM

Cardinals recalled INF Dean Anna from Triple-A Memphis.

Anna failed to make the Cardinals' roster out of spring training after a rough showing in Grapefruit League play, but he is needed now for the bench with Randal Grichuk (back) heading to the disabled list. Anna can play all around the diamond defensively. He carries no fantasy relevance in a utility role.
Apr 18 - 5:19 PM

Cardinals placed OF Randal Grichuk on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.

It sounds like the backup outfielder should be ready to return as soon as he's eligible. Grichuk, 23, is 2-for-10 with a home run and two RBI on the season.
Apr 18 - 5:17 PM

As expected, Garrett Richards (knee) will start Sunday afternoon against the Astros.

Richards tore his left patellar tendon last August. It's a welcome return, as the Angels' rotation entered Saturday with the fifth-highest ERA in the American League. Richards enjoyed a breakout season last year, compiling a 13-4 record, 2.61 ERA, and 1.04 WHIP over 26 starts. Expect more of the same in 2015.
Apr 18 - 5:13 PM

Mitch Moreland (elbow) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup on Saturday night.

But he was able to take pregame batting practice, so that's a good early indication that he will be able to avoid minor elbow surgery. Shin-Soo Choo is serving as the designated hitter for Texas on Saturday against the Mariners and Carlos Peguero is in right field. Moreland can be considered day-to-day.
