Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that the potential Juan Uribe/Alberto Callaspo swap between the Dodgers and Braves has "lost traction."

May 26 - 12:18 PM

According to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com, Joe Kelly is "clearly on thin ice" with the Red Sox.

Kelly was blasted for seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings Monday against the Twins and now owns a 6.24 ERA for the year. The plans calls for him to get one more start to show that he's making progress. If he stumbles, the Red Sox could demote him to Triple-A and call up prospect Eduardo Rodriguez to take his place in the rotation.

Johnny Cueto will undergo an MRI on his elbow on Tuesday.

Cueto was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to a stiff pitching elbow, but his agent Bryce Dixon said the right-hander is optimistic he's only dealing with fatigue. We should have a better idea about his status soon. In the meantime, the Reds and fantasy owners will cross their fingers.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers are talking to the Braves about a deal involving Juan Uribe and Alberto Callaspo.

No specifics yet, but Uribe and a minor leaguer would go to the Braves for Callaspo and three minor leaguers. Rosenthal hears from one source that the deal was close to being completed as of Monday night, which explains why Callaspo was a late-scratch from the Braves' lineup. Callaspo doesn't have much value to the Dodgers, but moving Uribe would officially clear the way for Alex Guerrero, Justin Turner, and Scott Van Slyke to take on more pronounced roles. Uribe, 36, is batting just .247/.287/.309 with one home run and six RBI through 87 plate appearances this season and is making $6.5 million. Because Callaspo signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Braves as a free agent over the winter, he has the ability to veto any trade until June 15.

Orioles prospect right-hander Brandon Kline is set to see Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday for a second opinion on his right elbow.

Kline left a start last Wednesday with tenderness in his flexor mass area and he's trying to get to the bottom of the issue. The 23-year-old has posted a 3.66 ERA in eight starts this season with a 27/19 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings.

Deibinson Romero has agreed to a deal with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization, according to Doosan and the Yonhap News Agency.

The Bears are expected to negotiate a buyout with the Pirates soon to finalize the deal. Romero, 28, signed a minor league deal with Pittsburgh over the winter and was batting .302/.403/.458 with six home runs and 27 RBI over 38 games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He has played 10 seasons in the minors, but never reached the major leagues.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Logan Forsythe will function as the regular first baseman with James Loney (finger) sidelined.

This will open things up for Nick Franklin to get more playing time at second base. Rene Rivera, Jacob Elmore, and Tim Beckham could also see some reps at first base, but Forsythe should get most of the playing time. Loney is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Brewers recalled RHP David Goforth from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He'll replace the injured Wily Peralta (oblique) on the active roster. Goforth, 26, had a 3.43 ERA and 18/11 K/BB ratio over 21 innings this season in Triple-A. He'll pitch in middle relief.
