Wilkin Ramirez (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Fort Myers on Thursday.

Ramirez was cleared after passing a concussion test. He's been out since late May and would figure to need a handful of games before being activated.
Jun 19 - 8:16 PM

Manny Ramirez's agent, Barry Praver, told FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi Wednesday that his client would like to return to Major League Baseball.

Ramirez has been taken off the roster of the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Professional Baseball League after batting .352/.422/.555 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 206 plate appearances. There's been speculation that the 41-year-old could go to Japan, but his first choice would surely be to return to the states. Whether anyone would have interest in him remains to be seen.

Mets manager Terry Collins plans to play new acquisition Eric Young Jr. often.

"We'll probably play him quite often to see what he brings to the table," Collins said. "We're hoping he brings something that we haven't had since Jose [Reyes]." Young was in center field and hitting leadoff on Wednesday in his first game with the Mets. Fantasy owners in need of steals should scoop him up.

Chris Perez (shoulder) will be re-evaluated after a bullpen session on Friday.

Perez had been scheduled for activation that day, but that's been pushed back after he allowed three homers and five runs in a rehab appearance Tuesday. He's feeling fine physically, but the Indians want him to work on his mechanics, as they think he was coming open a little too soon in his delivery. Vinnie Pestano will continue to close for the Tribe for now.
Jun 19 - 8:04 PM

Michael Morse is back in the Mariners' lineup Wednesday.

Morse sat out Tuesday due to his nagging right quad injury. He's been playing first base lately in order to limit his running, which means Justin Smoak is on the bench.
Jun 19 - 7:14 PM

Trevor Cahill (hip) is expected to be ready for his next start.

Cahill had to leave Wednesday's game after taking a first-inning Marcell Ozuna line drive off his right hip. His removal was a precaution, though, and he'll be fine for a start early next week against the Nationals.
Jun 19 - 7:12 PM

Madison Bumgarner held the Padres to two runs and three hits over seven innings to earn his seventh victory Wednesday.

Will Venable and Jesus Guzman homered off Bumgarner, but none of the four walks (one intentional) did any damage. It's the first time this season that Bumgarner has allowed multiple homers in a game. He's won three straight starts after a May swoon, and he has his ERA back down to 3.25. Next up for him is an outing against the Dodgers.
Jun 19 - 7:11 PM

Cody Ross has been dealing with contact issues due to the dry climate in Arizona.

Ross paid a visit to the eye doctor, who evidently fixed the issue, as the outfielder launched a pinch-hit three-run homer Wednesday. Perhaps he's due for a hot streak with his vision issues behind him.
