Scott Kazmir yielded two runs in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Red Sox.

He struck out six. It was a decent bounce-back outing from Kazmir, who was touched up for nine runs in eight innings over his previous two starts. Still, he had to dance around baserunners for most of the afternoon, as he allowed five hits and walked a season-high four batters. Kazmir now owns a 5.94 ERA across seven starts this season. He'll have a tough test against the Reds next week.

Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, two stolen bases and a run scored Saturday against the Red Sox.

Cabrera has three multi-hit games in his last four, pulling his batting average up from .239 to .263. The 27-year-old has been underwhelming so far this season, but he's currently on pace to reach double-digits in home runs and stolen bases.

Royals purchased the contract of C Adam Moore from Triple-A Omaha.

Moore will provide depth at catcher while Salvador Perez heads home to mourn the death of his grandmother. Moore will likely be sent back to Triple-A in 3-4 days.
May 25 - 5:24 PM

Royals placed C Salvador Perez on the bereavement list.

Perez lost his maternal grandmother this weekend and will be out for at least the next three days. The Royals are calling up Adam Moore to provide depth behind the plate.
May 25 - 5:23 PM

Mark Trumbo had a two-run single in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Royals.

The eighth-inning single extended his hitting streak to a career-high 10 games. Trumbo now has 34 RBI on the year, which puts him on pace to surpass to make it to triple digits for the first time. It appears that the Angels lineup is finally clicking, as they have scored at least five runs in each game during their seven-game winning streak.
May 25 - 5:13 PM

Billy Buckner was a pleasant surprise for the Angels on Saturday afternoon, as he fired five shutout frames against the Royals.

Buckner held his former team to just two hits, but walked three and only struck out two batters. Still, Angels manager Mike Scioscia has to be thrilled with the outing under the circumstances. Buckner entered Saturday's outing with a 6.25 ERA in the majors. Jered Weaver and Tommy Hanson are getting close to rejoining the Angels, so he's unlikely to get another start.
May 25 - 5:12 PM

Jeremy Guthrie gave up seven runs (six earned) over seven innings in Saturday's loss to the Angels.

It was an odd outing for Guthrie, who fell behind in the fourth inning due to an error and an RBI ground out and didn't give up his first hit until Hank Conger connected for a solo homer in the sixth. Josh Hamilton launched a solo shot of his own one inning later while the Angels broke through with four runs in the eighth. After posting a 2.28 ERA over his first seven starts, Guthrie has a 7.91 ERA over his last three outings. He'll hope to turn things around next week against the Cardinals, but it isn't a promising matchup for fantasy purposes.
May 25 - 5:11 PM

Josh Hamilton launched his seventh home run of the season in a win over the Royals on Saturday.

Look who is finally showing some signs of life. After batting .202 with two homers over his first 32 games this season, Hamilton has gone deep five times in his last 17 games. The veteran outfielder wasn't a good bet to match his production from Texas to begin with, but he's surely better than he has shown early on.
