The Boston Herald reports the Patriots consider WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee, injured reserve) unlikely to return this season.

Beat writer Jeff Howe reports that's been the Pats' assumption "for weeks." The Pats signed Kenny Britt on Tuesday to bolster their receiver corps. A promising second-year fourth-rounder who can't shake persistent knee woes, Mitchell was placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 1. Despite his upside, Mitchell's Patriots future is likely up in the air.

Browns waived WR Bryce Treggs.

A popular sleeper type in Dynasty leagues, Treggs is a 2016 UDFA with eight catches in 15 career games. The fact that he couldn't stick on the rebuilding Browns' 53-man roster doesn't bode particularly well for his NFL future. Treggs turns 24 in April.

Bengals QB Jeff Driskel (thumb, injured reserve) has resumed practicing.

It opens Driskel's three-week window to come off injured reserve. With only three weeks left in the season and Andy Dalton and A.J. McCarron both healthy, it's possible Driskel is never added to the 53-man roster.

Ameer Abdullah (neck) is practicing in full for Week 15.

The Lions were cagey on Abdullah's health after he was scratched for Sunday's win over the Bucs, but it sounds like he could have played. The Lions are over Abdullah's poor 2017 performance. His best-case scenario for Week 15 is being part of a committee with Theo Riddick, Tion Green and perhaps Zach Zenner. The Lions are playing the Bears on Saturday.

Redskins signed RB Kapri Bibbs, LB Otha Peters and LB Pete Robertson.

Bibbs worked out for the Redskins last month. With Byron Marshall (hamstring) headed to injured reserve, Bibbs could immediately slide in as the new No. 2 running back. He's far from an ideal Marshall/Chris Thompson replacement, as pass catching is not part of his game. UDFA LeShun Daniels Jr. might take over in that department, though he also rarely caught passes at Iowa.

Redskins placed RB Byron Marshall on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

TE Jordan Reed and LB Chris Carter have also been sent to injured reserve. Chris Thompson's fill-in as the Redskins' pass-catching back, Marshall injured his hamstring on a Week 14 kick return. Marshall averaged a modest seven touches in two healthy games in place of Thompson. A second-year UDFA, Marshall will have to work to crack someone's 53-man roster in 2018.

Redskins placed TE Jordan Reed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

It's the only logical end to what was a lost 2017 for the would-be star tight end. Always injured, Reed was limited to a career-low six games. Reed reported to camp with a toe injury that had been bothering him since 2016. Things went downhill from there as he battled shoulder, chest and hamstring ailments, amongst others. When Reed was on the field during his age-27 campaign, he was ineffective, averaging a fullback-like 7.8 yards per catch. Signed through 2021, Reed will head into 2018 having averaged 10 games across five NFL seasons.

Patriots signed WR Kenny Britt to a two-year contract.

Waived by the worst team in football four days ago, Britt will try to stick to the Super Bowl-or-bust Patriots' 53-man roster. Especially while Chris Hogan (shoulder) was sidelined, the Pats were lacking depth at receiver. Hogan is back now, but another body was still needed. It's an open question as to whether Britt will be able to keep his roster spot, though the two-year deal suggests he will. Britt was all the way checked out for the Browns, making awful errors and few, if any, big plays. Although he will be catching passes from Tom Brady, Britt won't have any fantasy value in his new home.
