Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Sandoval has slowed down in the power department after his May outburst (he hit six homers in an 11-game span), but even so, he has 11 homers on the season, leaving him just three shy of his 2013 total. He has a realistic chance of reaching 20 homers for the first time since 2011 and third time in his career.

Felix Hernandez overcome two first-inning runs Friday to earn his 11th win as the Mariners edged the A's 3-2.

Hernandez ended up going eight innings and striking out nine in the win. It's the 11th straight start in which he's lasted at least seven innings and allowed no more than two runs. He's 11-2 with a 2.12 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 144 1/3 innings this season. He's fanned at least nine in nine of his 20 starts.

Jorge De La Rosa tossed six innings of one-run ball in a 6-2 win over the Twins on Friday.

The only run scored on an RBI groundout from Eduardo Nunez in the second inning. De La Rosa allowed six hits and one walk while striking out three batters. He now stands at 10-6 with a 4.56 ERA and 73/43 K/BB ratio in 102 2/3 innings across 19 starts this season. An impending free agent, he figures to be a popular trade target leading up to July 31.

Kris Johnson was knocked around for five runs over just four innings in Friday's loss to the Rockies.

Welcome to Coors Field. Making the start in place of the injured Ricky Nolasco, Johnson allowed eight hits in the loss, including a pair of two-run homers. The 29-year-old left-hander should stick in Minnesota's rotation for now, but he's not really a fantasy option.
Jul 12 - 1:01 AM

Troy Tulowitzki hit his 21st home run of the season in Friday's win over the Twins.

It was a two-run shot off Kris Johnson in the third inning. Tulowitzki is now tied with Miami's Giancarlo Stanton for the National League lead in home runs. Meanwhile, he leads majors with a .349 batting average and a 1.060 OPS. The Rockies aren't going anywhere this year, but the 29-year-old shortstop could be primed for his first MVP season if his health cooperates in the second half.
Jul 12 - 1:00 AM

Carlos Gonzalez (finger) went 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored in his return from the disabled list Friday.

He also made a pair of impressive defensive plays. Gonzalez ended up missing just over a month following surgery to remove a benign tumor from his left index finger. The 28-year-old wasn't his usual elite self prior to the procedure, so fantasy owners will have to hope that improved production is on the way now that the issue has been resolved.
Jul 12 - 12:59 AM

Jeff Samardzija took a complete-game loss after giving up three runs in eight innings Friday against the Mariners.

It was Samardzija's fourth career complete game and first of 2014. He allowed five hits, walked none and struck out five.
Jul 12 - 12:59 AM

Drew Stubbs launched a two-run homer Friday against the Twins.

It was his 10th home run of the season. Four of them have come in his last six games. His playing time is going to take a hit now that Carlos Gonzalez is back from the disabled list, but he still figures to get regular at-bats against left-handed starters at the very least.
