Twins recalled RHP J.R. Graham from Triple-A Rochester.

Graham will give the Twins' bullpen the fresh arm it so badly needs. He had an underwhelming 4.95 ERA and 53/21 K/BB ratio in 63 2/3 innings for Minnesota last year.

Martin Perez spun five scoreless innings but settled for a no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Perez had to pitch out of trouble a few times, ultimately allowing four hits and three walks but keeping the Jays off the scoreboard. He was in line to pick up his second win of the season before Shawn Tolleson blew a save in the ninth. Perez is throwing harder this season, but he still holds an ugly 18/18 K/BB ratio over 35 frames. He'll take on the Tigers in Detroit over the weekend.

Twins optioned RHP Alex Meyer to Triple-A Rochester.

Meyer allowed five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings (one start, one relief appearances) with the big club. The 26-year-old right-hander will return to the rotation at Rochester for now and should get another shot soon.
May 3 - 11:44 PM

Shawn Tolleson blew his second save of the season by serving up a solo homer to Justin Smoak in the ninth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays.

Tolleson nearly lost the game in the ninth, too, loading the bases on a double and a couple walks before getting Jose Bautista to fly out to end the threat. The Jays won it in the 10th with another Smoak longball. Tolleson now holds a 5.73 ERA on the season, although that number is skewed due to one awful appearance. But, while he's pitched well overall, he might not be able to afford many more showings like he had Tuesday.
May 3 - 11:40 PM

Jose Quintana held the Red Sox to one run over eight innings in Tuesday's win.

Quintana was magnificent, scattering four hits without walking a batter and striking out five. He hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in a start this season, and he's allowed one or fewer in four of his six. He's the owner of a sparkling 1.40 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 37/8 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings heading into Sunday's meeting with the Twins.

Justin Smoak was the Blue Jays' offense Tuesday versus the Rangers, tying the game in the ninth with a homer and winning it with another homer in the 10th.

Not a bad time for your first two longballs of the season. Smoak took closer Shawn Tolleson deep to the opposite field with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the ninth and then deposited a Phil Klein offering again over the left-field wall with a runner on in the 10th. They were the only three runs of the game for the Blue Jays. Smoak is sporting a nifty .267/.421/.422 batting line on the season and will continue to hold down first base with Chris Colabello suspended.
May 3 - 11:35 PM

Hanley Ramirez hit a solo home run against the White Sox on Tuesday.

The homer was just his second of the season, giving him 16 RBI. He's got a modest eight-game hitting streak in which he's 11-for-34 (.323). That stretch has helped him run his overall line up to .284/.306/.412.
May 3 - 11:34 PM

David Robertson worked a perfect ninth inning against the Red Sox on Tuesday to earn his ninth save.

Robertson has now allowed a lone run in 12 appearances on the year. The right-hander is asserting his spot among the league's elite closers, owning a 0.73 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 15/4 K/BB ratio on the year.
