Ravens TE Maxx Williams (undisclosed) will be ready for Week 1.

Williams missed last weekend's regular season dress rehearsal. "He's practicing, so he should be there for Denver," coach John Harbaugh said. "We just want to protect him from the bumps." Williams has had an unimpressive summer, but his potential role puts him on the TE2 radar.

Cardinals ILB Sean Weatherspoon (hamstring) has resumed practicing.

He'll play in Thursday's preseason finale after missing the first three exhibition contests. The Cardinals need Weatherspoon to play important snaps this season, but he has one of the longest injury histories in football. His odds of making it 16 games are slim.

Giants placed DB Josh Gordy on injured reserve, ending his season.

Gordy's injury is undisclosed. The sixth-year undrafted free agent played some important snaps for the Colts last season, but is not an impact player.
Sep 1 - 4:25 PM

Giants waived WR Juron Criner, OL Michael Bamiro, DB Justin Halley, OL Eric Herman, OL Derrick Johnson, P Robert Malone, DE Jordan Stanton, DT Jimmy Staten, TE Will Tye, OL Brandon Mosley and RB Akeem Hunt.

Mosley and Hunt were waived/injured. A 2012 fifth-rounder, Criner hasn't caught a regular season pass since 2013.

Giants placed LT Will Beatty (torn pec) on the reserve/PUP list.

Beatty tore his pec lifting weights in May. He was given a five-to-six month timetable when the injury occurred, so he could be ready to come off the PUP when he is first eligible October 25 against the Cowboys. Rookie Ereck Flowers will start at left tackle while Beatty is sidelined.

Browns released NT Phil Taylor.

The first-rounder the Browns got after deciding to trade down and pass on Julio Jones in 2011, Taylor never emerged as more than a run-plugging specialist. He was limited to just five games last season after undergoing a knee scope. Taylor is still a viable NFLer, so it's a bit of a surprising move. The Browns are on the hook for Taylor's $5.477 million salary. Taylor should latch on elsewhere relatively quickly.

Bucs rookie WR Kenny Bell is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Bell has been sidelined since Friday. Bell expressed optimism about testing the hamstring out in practice on Tuesday, but coach Lovie Smith shot it down, saying "You don't come back from hamstring injuries that quick." A fifth-rounder out of Nebraska, Bell is battling Louis Murphy for snaps behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson.
Sep 1 - 4:14 PM

Chiefs waived WR Junior Hemingway.

A 2012 seventh-round pick, Hemingway was never able to establish himself in Kansas City's underwhelming receiver corps. He recorded 25 catches across 31 games in three years with the Chiefs. Kansas City also waived OL Tavon Rooks, placed QB Tyler Bray on the reserve/NFI list and placed LB Justin March on injured reserve.
