Matt Kemp launched a two-run homer in Monday's win over the Reds.

The dinger came in the fourth inning off of Anthony DeSclafani. Kemp has mashed the ball all spring, as he's now hitting .375 with four homers, five doubles, a triple and 13 RBI. Perhaps even more importantly, he's looked healthy after whispers over the winter that he has arthritis in both of his hips.

Jeff Todd of MLBTradeRumors.com reports that Scott Downs will only accept a major league contract.

Downs was released by the Indians Monday after failing to make the team as a non-roster invitee. The 39-year-old isn't interested in going to Triple-A, which is understandable given his track record. It's not clear whether he might consider retirement if he doesn't get a major league job relatively soon.

Astros purchased the contract of LHP Joe Thatcher from Triple-A Fresno.

Thatcher pretty much just had to not get hurt in order to make the team, and he cemented his case with a 1.23 ERA this spring. The veteran southpaw will be a lefty specialist.

Cubs purchased the contract of LHP Phil Coke from Triple-A Iowa.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported earlier Monday that Coke had made the roster, and now the team has made it official. He'll earn $2.25 million on his one-year contract. The left-hander held a 3.88 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 58 innings with the Tigers in 2014.

Trevor Bauer had his good stuff Monday, whiffing seven batters while tossing 6 1/3 frames of one-run ball in a Cactus League win over the White Sox.

Bauer walked just one and was unscathed other than the solo shot he served up to Tyler Flowers. Shockingly, it was the first walk Bauer has issued all spring, as he's often had trouble with his control. He could really take a step forward in 2015 if he can improve his control.
Mar 30 - 8:16 PM

Hector Noesi struck out five but allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings Monday against the Indians.

He yielded five hits -- including a pair of home runs -- and issued two walks. Noesi holds a solid 3.68 ERA this spring, which you'd think would be good enough to cement the fifth spot in the rotation. However, the White Sox for some reason might give Brad Penny the job.
Mar 30 - 8:12 PM

Tyler Flowers had a single and a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Indians.

The longball came in the third inning off of Trevor Bauer. It was Flowers' third tater this spring, although he's hitting just .233. In other words, he's being Tyler Flowers.
Mar 30 - 8:08 PM

LaTroy Hawkins was shelled in one-third of an inning, allowing five runs to the Athletics as the Rockies lost 11-2 on Monday.

The A's scored two runs on a Ben Zobrist double and a Billy Butler single, then added three more on a Brett Lawrie three-run homer. Hawkins has pitched well in four of his six outings this spring, but has been hit hard in the two others. He's entering what will be his final year in baseball, and the mix of his age (42), home ballpark, and vanishing strikeout rate makes him a risky play for fantasy purposes.
