Jose Reyes stole his 11th base of the season and scored a run against the White Sox on Tuesday.

Reyes finished the game 1-for-4 with the stolen base and run scored. The steal was just his second since June 7, a problematic stretch for a player whose value relies as much on speed as Reyes' does. Still, the 32-year-old is having a respectable year, batting .272/.302/.383 with four homers and 31 runs scored to go with his 11 stolen bases.

Cody Allen was unavailable to pitch Tuesday due to a stiff back.

Bryan Shaw earned the save in Allen's place. Allen should be ready to go in a day or two, but those in leagues with daily transactions might want to scoop up Shaw.
Jul 7 - 11:05 PM

Josh Donaldson hit his 21st home run of the season in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.

The homer, a solo shot in the fourth inning of Jose Quintana, turned out to be the difference in the game. Donaldson finished 1-for-3 with a walk. The record-setting All-Star vote-getter has certainly earned the distinction this year, as he's now hitting .300/.358/.544 with 58 RBI and an American League-best 64 runs scored.
Jul 7 - 11:04 PM

Jose Quintana was strong Tuesday but left with nothing to show for it, holding the Blue Jays to two runs over eight innings while taking the loss.

In what has become a bit of a theme for Quintana, he deserved better than he got. The southpaw allowed just four hits on the night without walking a batter, but the White Sox couldn't muster much offense against journeyman Felix Doubront. Quintana struck out eight in the effort. He's now 4-8 with a 3.69 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 17 starts. He'll look to end the first half on a high note when the Sox take on their Windy City rivals on Sunday.
Jul 7 - 10:57 PM

Felix Doubront limited the White Sox to one run over 6 2/3 innings in a win Tuesday.

Doubront, making his first start of the year and his first as a member of the Blue Jays, was terrific, scattering six hits and a walk while fanning six. Perhaps it wasn't entirely out of the blue after the southpaw posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo to start the year. He almost certainly earned himself another turn in the rotation, with that start likely coming Sunday at the Royals heading into the break.
Jul 7 - 10:53 PM

Brett Oberholtzer will be recalled to start on Thursday in Cleveland.

The Astros are tweaking their rotation around the All-Star break, as it will just be a spot start for Oberholtzer. He holds a 4.32 ERA over seven starts this season.
Jul 7 - 10:51 PM

Bryan Shaw pitched a perfect ninth inning in Tuesday's 2-0 victory over the Rays to earn his second save.

Shaw struck out Colby Rasmus, then got consecutive ground outs from Hank Conger and Marwin Gonzalez to end the game. Regular closer Cody Allen hasn't pitched since July 3, but it's not clear why he wasn't used to close out Tuesday's game. Shaw has had a terrific season, sporting a 1.82 ERA with a 29/10 K/BB ratio in 29 2/3 innings.
Jul 7 - 10:50 PM

Astros optioned RHP Vincent Velasquez to Double-A Corpus Christi.

It's a move made in order to conserve Velasquez's innings, as he won't pitch for Corpus Christi. The young right-hander will rejoin the Astros' rotation just after the All-Star break. He holds a 3.94 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and a 31/14 K/BB ratio over 32 innings.
