Blue Jays placed RHP Aaron Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 22, with a right index finger contusion.

The move makes room for Marcus Stroman, who is starting against the Angels tonight. Sanchez's injury means both Jaime Garcia and Sam Gaviglio will keep their rotation spots for now. Still, Sanchez might miss just one start.

Daniel Mengden struggled in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing five runs on four hits in just two innings of work.

The right-hander walked one and struck out one in the abbreviated outing. All of the damage against him came in the first inning, capped off by a three-run homer from Tim Anderson. It's the fourth straight disastrous start for Mengden, who has seen his ERA balloon from 2.91 to 4.47 during that stretch. He'll try to stop the bleeding when he does battle against the Indians on Friday.

Tim Anderson homered for the second straight game as the White Sox fell to the Athletics on Saturday afternoon.

Anderson clubbed a three-run homer in the first to give the White Sox an early 5-0 lead. He also singled in the game, going 2-for-4. The dynamic shortstop is now hitting .239/.302/.436 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 14 swipes.

Dylan Covey wasn't at his best in a no-decision against the Athletics on Saturday, surrendering four runs on two hits over four-plus innings of work.

Covey also issued four walks on the afternoon while recording just one strikeout. Staked to an early 5-0 lead, Covey couldn't keep the train on the tracks for five innings, allowing a two-run homer to Stephen Piscotty in the second, then allowing the first two batters to reach before departing in the fifth, both of which would come around to score. He'll carry a 3.45 ERA and unappealing 1.42 WHIP into Friday's start against the Rangers in Texas.

Lorenzo Cain had to leave Saturday's game against the Cardinals because of groin tightness.

This comes two days after he left a game with a hamstring cramp. Ryan Braun replaced him today. Consider Cain to be day-to-day.

Jorday Lyles was scratched from his start Saturday because of forearm tightness.

Lyles complained of the tightness in warmups today. If he lands on the DL, it could open the door for Luis Perdomo to rejoin the Padres' rotation.
Jun 23 - 5:26 PM

Jean Segura said he's hoping to rejoin the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Besides his infected forearm, Segura is dealing with some stomach irritation from the antibiotics he's taking. Don't pencil him in for Sunday just yet. Andrew Romine is filling in for him.
Jun 23 - 5:19 PM

Mookie Betts was scratched Saturday because of an illness.

Betts was originally in the lineup as a DH, but shortstop Tzu-Wei Lin has replaced him in the leadoff spot, with Eduardo Nunez DHing and J.D. Martinez shifting to right.
