Erik Bedard allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday but was forced to take a no-decision as the Astros lost to the Brewers.

Bedard was in vintage form, as he allowed only four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Save for one start, the southpaw has actually been very good since early May but has just two wins to show for it. Such is life as a Houston Astros pitcher. He'll take on the Cardinals next on Tuesday.

Roger Bernadina (eye) will visit a doctor on Thursday.

Bernadina developed an infection in his left eye prior to Wednesday's game and was unavailable to play in that contest. It shouldn't be a big deal, but the Nats should provide an update prior to Thursday's contest versus the Rockies.

Wil Myers - OF - Rays

Wil Myers hit a two-run double, his first two runs batted in, to help the Rays beat the Red Sox 6-2 on Wednesday.

The hit, which came in the seventh inning, was Myers' only hit in five at-bats on the night, but it was an important one in his history. Through three games with the club he has just two hits, but expect Myers to start showing more of why the Rays traded for him as he continues to get at-bats.

Justin Morneau finally hit his third home run of the year Wednesday in the Twins' 7-4 win over the White Sox.

Morneau hadn't gone deep since April 28. He owns a decent .289 batting average in 64 games this season and has been effective with runners in scoring position, but the power has completely vanished. It may be a struggle for him to reach a double-digit home run total.
Jun 19 - 11:24 PM

Chris Sale allowed four earned runs over five innings Wednesday as the White Sox lost to the Twins.

Sale battled bad defense, a comebacker that that hit him on the leg and a collision at first base with the Twins' Pedro Florimon. The left-hander should bounce back next week when he faces the Mets at home.
Jun 19 - 11:21 PM

Desmond Jennings went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Jennings is slowly approaching double digits in both homers and steals, as he has nine dingers to go with eight steals after Wednesday's game. That's a bit of a shock, as Jennings has always been known more for his speed than his power. He'll still almost certainly finish with more stolen bases than homers, but a little extra power never hurt, either.
Jun 19 - 11:21 PM

Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer in the Cardinals' 4-1 defeat of the Cubs on Wednesday in St. Louis.

The two-run shot was Yadi's only hit of the night but it was a big gone, breaking a 1-1 tie and putting the Cardinals ahead for good. Molina, the best defensive catcher in baseball, is now batting .365/.406/.514 with five homers and 41 RBI. He might be the early NL MVP.

Jeremy Hellickson went six innings, allowing just two runs in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The right-hander was pounded his last time out but rebounded well, holding the Red Sox to seven hits while striking out four. Hellickson has been up and down all year, as his ERA still sits at 5.50 despite being 5-3 on the season. He'll try to carry that momentum over into his next start against the Blue Jays on Monday.
