Corey Kluber was terrific in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday, allowing just one run on six hits over six frames.

The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner racked up nine strikeouts on the afternoon while walking two. Unfortunately, he was out-dueled by Josh Collmenter who was terrific on the other side of the diamond. Kluber now boasts a 3.38 ERA and 20/5 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings on the spring and looks ready for the regular season to begin.

Alex Rios said Friday that his injured thumb is feeling better, though he acknowledges it's a condition that he will have to manage throughout the season.

Rios jammed his thumb during Thursday's Cactus League contest, the same thumb that he had issues with during the 2014 season. Historically, thumb injuries have been known to sap a player's power, so make sure to factor that into your valuation on draft day if considering calling the veteran outfielder's name.

The Dodgers have shut down Chad Gaudin (arm) for the time being and are awaiting his MRI results.

The veteran right-hander has dealt with a variety of ailments in spring camp, including a tweak in his throwing arm and tingling in his fingers due to nerve issues in his neck. He will remain shut down until the team can determine the cause of his ailments.

Brandon League will be shut down for the next three weeks to rest his ailing right shoulder.

League met with two different doctors on Friday after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday. The good news is that there doesn't appear to be any structural damage, but League will surely begin the season on the disabled list and manager Don Mattingly indicated that he expects League to be out at least a couple of months.

Alex Rodriguez will make his Grapefruit League debut at first base on Sunday against the Astros.

Rodriguez has been working at the position this spring in an effort to increase his versatility, though it's very unlikely that he'll see much time there during the regular season. The 39-year-old is having himself a fine spring, slashing .290/.389/.516 with a pair of homers and three RBI in 31 at-bats.

Jordan Zimmermann admitted Friday that the chances he signs a contract extension with the Nationals are "not looking good."

Zimmermann won't negotiate during the season, and he indicated that there's been little-to-no talks between his reps and the club. "I’m just not going to talk during the season," Zimmermann said. "If something gets done before then — which is probably pretty rare right now — then it gets done. But it’s not looking good." Zimmermann will earn $16.5 million this season before hitting the open market next winter.

Mets manager Terry Collins indicated Friday that Daniel Murphy (hamstring) is likely to begin the season on the disabled list.

"He's running out of time," Collins said. "... We don't have a lot of time. I'm going to talk to Dan tomorrow. We don't have a lot of time to get him ready. I got word of what he did today, and we certainly have to speed it up a little bit. So I'm getting a little concerned he's not going to have enough time." General manager Sandy Alderson expressed a similar sentiment, saying it "would be a little surprising" if Murphy made it back "sooner than roughly Opening Day." Alderson added that Murphy is likely to play in minor league games next week even if plays in games at all. That would allow the Mets to backdate his DL stint, potentially setting him up to miss as few as six games.

Jon Gray is now slated to start Saturday's Cactus League game versus the Indians, replacing Tyler Matzek.

As Nick Groke of the Denver Post notes, that potentially lines up Gray to start the second game of the season in Milwaukee. Matzek will now start on March 31 instead, lining him up for the Rockies' home opener. The news comes on the heels of general manager Jeff Bridich saying that Gray's arbitration timeline is a "non-factor," so things seem to be pointing towards the top prospect making Colorado's Opening Day rotation. Gray is obviously hurt greatly by having Coors Field as his home park, but we wouldn't rule out him having mixed league value this season.
