Jonathan Papelbon got his ninth save of the season Saturday in the Phillies' 5-3 win over the Nationals.

Papelbon struck out three of the four batters he faced in picking up the easy save. He has been excellent all year but the Phillies are playing under-.500 ball and haven't provided him with that many opportunities.

Dan Haren yielded three earned runs over six innings Saturday as the Nationals fell to the Phillies.

Haren racked up a whopping 10 strikeouts and allowed only four hits, but two of them were home runs. He has looked good at times this season, but the consistency has not been there. Haren will take a 4-5 record, 5.43 ERA and 1.37 WHIP into his next start vs. the Orioles.

Jake Peavy threw a complete game Saturday as the White Sox won 2-1 over the Marlins.

Peavy did not allow a run until Derek Dietrich took him deep in the top of the ninth inning. The veteran right-hander struck out five batters and allowed only six hits in his nine total frames. He is now 6-2 with a 2.97 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 63/15 K/BB ratio in 60 2/3 innings this season. The Cubs are on tap for him next.

Conor Gillaspie hit a walkoff RBI single Saturday to lift the White Sox past the Marlins.

Gillaspie singled up the middle in the second inning, singled to right field in the fourth and then roped a walkoff RBI single to left field in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Dewayne Wise from second base. Gillaspie has a solid .298/.362/.444 batting line with three homers and nine RBI in 42 games this season.

Derek Dietrich hit a solo home run Saturday in the Marlins' loss to the White Sox.

Dietrich's solo shot in the top of the ninth inning gave the Fish their only run of the evening. Jake Peavy largely dominated the rest of the Marlins lineup. Dietrich, 23, has three home runs in 14 major leagues games and is worth a roster spot right now in NL-only leagues. He was raking at Double-A before his early-May callup.
May 25 - 10:04 PM

Ricky Nolasco held the White Sox to one run in 7 2/3 innings Saturday but the Marlins lost.

Miami scored just one run all night on a ninth-inning solo home run from Derek Dietrich. Nolasco was great, yielding eight hits but no walks and fanning six. The right-hander has a cool 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 56/14 K/BB ratio in 69 innings this season, and will try to keep it going next week against the Rays.
May 25 - 10:01 PM

Rays manager Joe Maddon said after Saturday's blown save that he's still confident in closer Fernando Rodney.

The blown save was Rodney's fifth of the year and his second in two games after blowing just two all of last season. The right-hander now has a 6.05 ERA, and while votes of confidence are nice, they fade quickly when results don't follow. Rodney remains the closer for now, but the leash is likely very short. Joel Peralta is a must-add.
May 25 - 8:58 PM

Lyle Overbay cranked a go-ahead homer in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Yankees past the Rays by a score of 4-3 on Saturday night at Tropicana Field.

Overbay also scored a crucial run in the top of the ninth inning that helped extend the game to extras. His solo shot in the 11th then put the Yankees ahead for good. Overbay, 36, has eight home runs and 28 RBI in 46 games this season. He has been a nice surprise.
