Updating an earlier item, Zach Eflin left Friday night's start against the Giants with right shoulder discomfort.

His exit was considered precautionary, though Eflin will be further examined on Saturday. "It's just something I wasn't comfortable continuing with," he said. "I've had some soreness back there before, but not really like this." The 23-year-old has struggled to a 5.85 ERA across 22 major league starts.

Rays claimed OF Cesar Puello off waivers from the Angels.

It took Puello about a week to find a new home after being designated for assignment. It's hard to see where he fits in a Rays outfield that already includes Corey Dickerson, Kevin Kiermaier, Steven Souza and Peter Bourjos.

Blue Jays acquired RHP Tom Koehler from the Marlins in exchange for RHP Osman Gutierrez.

Koehler has battled injuries throughout the year and has also spent time in Triple-A, but offers a wealth of experience (132 major league starts) and could benefit from a change of scenery. If nothing else, the 31-year-old gives Toronto some much-needed pitching depth. He didn't cost the Jays much, either. Gutierrez has posted a miserable 7.85 ERA over 18 starts for Low-A Lansing this year.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Matt Andriese (hip) is "fine" after taking a comebacker off his shin during Friday's rehab start for High-A Charlotte.

However, Cash said Andriese still needs two more rehab starts, which means he won't be back until early September. A stress reaction has sidelined the right-hander since early June.

Will Harris (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

It sounds like he'll be joined by Evan Gattis (concussion) as well as Tony Sipp (calf). Harris has thrown three bullpen sessions in the last week and seems to be nearing 100 percent after going down with shoulder inflammation late last month. The 32-year-old right-hander has pitched well in a setup role this year, compiling a 2.86 ERA with 17 holds over 34 relief outings.

Johnny Cueto (forearm) will resume his minor league rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Sacramento.

Cueto was originally placed on the DL because of a blister issue but suffered strained flexor tendon while making a rehab appearance for High-A San Jose on July 31. Despite the setback, Cueto has made it through a few bullpen sessions and is now ready to try his hand in some rehab games. The right-hander is expected to throw between 50-60 pitches on Monday. If all goes well, Cueto should be back in the Giants' rotation sometime next month.

Kenley Jansen notched one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to earn a save in a 3-0 interleague win over the Tigers.

Pinch-hitter Alex Presley reached base on catcher's interference with two outs but it didn't faze Jansen, who quickly induced Jose Iglesias into a game-ending groundout. Jansen now has 33 saves in 34 chances. He owns a 1.33 ERA with 84 strikeouts and five walks in 54 1/3 innings.

Hyun-Jin Ryu kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for five innings but didn't stick around long enough to get the win on Saturday.

The Dodgers didn't score until the seventh inning and the win was credited to reliever Ross Stripling. Ryu notched four strikeouts and gave up only three base hits, but he struggled to throw strikes, walking four batters and burning 89 pitches to get through five frames. The left-hander has a 3.45 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 98 strikeouts in 101 2/3 innings spread over 18 starts and one relief appearance.
