Bills GM Doug Whaley traded for Bryce Brown because he felt the former Eagle had the potential to be a star.

Whaley gave up a fourth-round pick to get Brown this summer, relatively steep compensation by NFL standards. Note that Brown was the unquestioned No. 1 high school player in the country coming out, getting compared to Reggie Bush by Lane Kiffin. He has 4.48 speed at 6'0/220 and is excellent in the pass game. As the Buffalo News speculates, Brown will at worst be a "co-feature back" with Anthony Dixon while Fred Jackson (groin) is out. He's a plug-n-play RB2 with potential to stick in the C.J. Spiller role even once F-Jax returns.

Coach Mike Pettine said Brian Hoyer is "still firmly our starter."

Hoyer laid an egg in a loss to the previously winless Jaguars in Week 7, looking uncomfortable in the pocket and displaying concerning inaccuracy. But he earned enough leash early in the year to get another start, this time against the 0-6 Raiders. If Hoyer loses that game, the calls for Johnny Manziel will become deafening.

Mike Glennon is expected to start Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Josh McCown (thumb) has resumed practicing, but Glennon has outperformed the veteran badly this season. Over the last three games, Glennon has gone 1-2 with two 300-yard games and a 6:3 TD-to-INT ration. He'll be a two-QB league option against a very burnable Vikings secondary this week.

According to NFL Network, Pierre Thomas (shoulder) will miss 2-3 weeks.

Thomas, currently third on the Saints in both catches and rush attempts, sustained the injury during Sunday's narrow loss at Detroit. The earliest he'll return is likely Week 10, as the Saints play on Thursday night in Week 9. It opens up a nice window for Khiry Robinson to get a bump in snaps and Travaris Cadet to get on the PPR radar. Cadet's role was expanding a bit even before Thomas' injury, as he has 15-129-1 through the air over the last three weeks while exclusively playing in the pass game.

Markus Wheaton was held without a catch on two targets in the Steelers' Week 7 win over the Texans.

The missed connections between Wheaton and Ben Roethlisberger have been a topic of conversation the past couple weeks, and the two did nothing to squash it Monday. Wheaton simply may not be very good. Rookie WR Martavis Bryant made his NFL debut against Houston and caught a 35-yard touchdown on five targets. Bryant may be poised to pass Wheaton on the depth chart. The diminutive speed threat can't be trusted as anything more than a WR5.

Lance Moore caught two passes for 12 yards and one touchdown in the Steelers' Week 7 win over the Texans.

Moore saw just the two targets. His score came on a fake WR sweep-turned-reverse to Antonio Brown where Brown hit Moore in stride for the three-yard touchdown. Moore has touchdowns in back-to-back games, but isn't a fantasy option as the Steelers' No. 3 or 4 receiver. He's merely a role player.

Heath Miller caught his lone target for 13 yards in the Steelers' Week 7 win over the Texans.

Once propped up as a candidate to bounce back into the TE1 conversation, Miller has comfortably settled in as a low-upside TE2. He's averaging just three targets per game the past three weeks and only has one score on the season. Miller isn't being used in the red zone as much as we expected entering the year.
Oct 21 - 12:36 AM

Garrett Graham caught two passes for 24 yards in the Texans' Week 7 loss to the Steelers.

Graham was targeted three times, but dropped the other. It can be considered one of Graham's better statistical games of the season, which obviously means he's nowhere near fantasy relevance as a TE2/3. Leave him on the wire.
