Kyle Gibson was dominant in Tuesday's win over the White Sox, punching out eight over seven innings of one-run ball.

The right-hander scattered seven hits and a walk in the contest. The only blemish on his night was allowing Yoan Moncada to score on a wild pitch in the first inning. Gibson now sits at 7-10 on the season with a disappointing 5.76 ERA and 1.68 WHIP. He'll look to replicate this fine performance when he squares off against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday.

Yoan Moncada went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and scored the White Sox' lone run in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Moncada doubled with one out in the first inning, advanced to third on a line out and scampered home on a wild pitch with the game's first run. That would be it for the White Sox though against Kyle Gibson and company. With the two-hit attack, Moncada raised his season slash to .189/.330/.358.

Lucas Giolito pitched decently in his White Sox' debut on Tuesday, giving up four runs on six hits over six innings in a loss to the Twins.

The rookie right-hander struck out four and didn't walk a batter. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco and Kennys Vargas each clubbing solo homers and Eddie Rosario adding a two-run blast in the sixth. He'll look for better results when he takes on the Tigers on Sunday.

Salvador Perez went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, leading the Royals to a 3-2 victory over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Perez returned from the disabled list without missing a beat on Tuesday. He lined an RBI double to the gap in right-center field to plate Eric Hosmer in the fourth inning with what would be the eventual winning run. The hard-hitting backstop is hitting .281/.310/.514 with 21 long balls and 66 RBI on the season.

Whit Merrifield went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base as the Royals topped the Rockies on Tuesday.

Merrifield manufactured a run by himself in the first inning. After a leadoff single, he stole second base, advanced to third on a ground ball then scampered home on a passed ball. He has been one of the biggest surprises in the league this season, slashing .282/.319/.458 with 14 homers, 56 RBI and 23 stolen bases.

Scott Alexander secured the first save of his big league career in Tuesday's victory over the Rockies.

Kelvin Herrera started the ninth inning with a one-run advantage, but got into a world of trouble after retiring the first two hitters. He allowed a triple to Jonathan Lucroy, then walked Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra on a combined nine pitches. He then fell behind 2-0 to Alexi Amarista when manager Ned Yost decided he had seen enough. Alexander came on and got him on a fielder's choice, ending the game.

Danny Duffy racked up seven strikeouts over six innings of two-run ball in Tuesday's victory over the Rockies.

The left-hander allowed just one hit and three walks on the night. The only damage against him came on a mighty two-run blast from Nolan Arenado in the sixth inning. It was a nice bounce-back effort from Duffy who had struggled in his three previous starts. He now sports a 3.78 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 116/36 K/BB ratio across 131 innings on the season. He'll do battle against the division-rival Indians in Cleveland on Sunday.
Aug 23 - 12:39 AM

Nolan Arenado blasted his 28th home run of the season as the Rockies fell to the Royals on Tuesday night in Kansas City.

Arenado got the Rockies on the board with a two-run blast off of Danny Duffy in the sixth inning, but that proved to be the extent of their offense in the ballgame. He finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now slashing .312/.367/.596 with 28 long balls and 107 RBI.
