Kevin Slowey - S - Marlins

Kevin Slowey had to leave Wednesday's start against the Phillies after the fifth inning with an apparent injury.

Slowey was warming up before the top of the sixth before manager Mike Redmond and the trainer visited him on the mound. After a brief discussion, the righty exited the field. It's not clear at this point what ailment he's dealing with. Slowey allowed just one run over five frames before exiting.

Hiroki Kuroda - S - Yankees

Hiroki Kuroda left Wednesday's start against the Orioles in the third inning with an apparent injury.

Kuroda was hit on the calf by a comeback in the previous inning, but some are speculating that his back might be the issue. The Yankees will provide an update on his status soon. It would be yet another big injury blow to the Bombers if Kuroda has to miss significant time.

Jake Westbrook - S - Cardinals

Jake Westbrook had to stop his bullpen session Wednesday after 20 pitches due to pain in his right elbow.

Well, that's not good. Westbrook felt fine while playing catch, but this was the first time since landing on the disabled list that he tried to throw from a mound. The right-hander isn't sure what the next step is, but obviously he's not going to be back anytime soon.

John Lannan - S - Phillies

John Lannan (quad) is scheduled to face hitters next Wednesday.

It will be the first time he's done so since going on the disabled list. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Lannan "is doing very well. He feels good." The left-hander could rejoin the rotation in a few weeks if all goes well.

Roy Halladay - S - Phillies

Roy Halladay (shoulder) could rejoin the Phillies' rotation in late August if everything progresses on schedule.

Halladay, who had surgery last week to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his torn rotator cuff, reported to extended spring training Monday to begin his rehab. General manager Ruben Amaro said Doc has pretty good range of motion and is "pretty positive." Obviously late August is so far away that it's just a rough timetable, but, given Halladay's famous work ethic, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him pitching later this season.

Adam Dunn - 1B - White Sox

Adam Dunn is still dealing with back pain but plans to continue playing through it.

Dunn left Saturday's game due to back spasms but was back in the lineup the next day and has remained in there each day since. The pain isn't an issue when he's swinging a bat, so he should be OK in the DH spot. "Laying down that hurts it worse and sitting down makes it stiff," Dunn said. "So, I’m sure I’ll be walking around doing some stuff. Again, I never had any back problems. I don’t consider this a back problem really. But I don’t know. I guess it just has to run its course."

Jose Bautista - OF - Blue Jays

A one-man offense, Jose Bautista went 4-for-4 with two homers and a game-winning hit in the bottom of the 10th as the Blue Jays edged the Rays 4-3 on Wednesday.

Bautista singled in the Jays' first run in the first, homered in the fourth, homered again off Fernando Rodney to tie it in the ninth and then hit a little liner to right to end the game in the 10th. The four-hit game was Bautista's first since July 27, 2010. He hadn't even had a three-hit game in a year -- oddly enough, his last one came May 22, 2012 against the same Rays team.

Jeremy Hellickson - S - Rays

Jeremy Hellickson pitched a season-high eighth innings and allowed two runs Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Hellickson left with a one-run lead, but that was blown right away by Fernando Rodney. It was still a nice outing for Hellickson, going down as just his third quality start of the season. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four.
