Seahawks placed CB Tharold Simon (toe) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Simon missed the last two games and wasn't close to returning. He was active in Week 2, but didn't play any snaps in a lost season. The Seahawks needed Simon's roster spot to promote RB Rod Smith with Marshawn Lynch out. 24-year-old Simon is signed through 2016.
The Kansas City Chiefs are 28th among NFL teams in pass defense, giving up 295.5 passing yards per game this season.
The Chiefs have faced three solid quarterbacks since Week 1 in Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and the surging Andy Dalton, but their secondary has not had any success. Week 5 brings a matchup with Chicago, who hasn't been an offensive juggernaut this season but did rack up 371 total yards with Jay Cutler back under center in Week 4. Secondary issues in addition to the struggles Kansas City has had recording sacks and turnovers will leave the Chiefs D/ST as a bottom tier Week 5 fantasy option.
Chargers LCB Brandon Flowers (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 5.
Flowers and Jason Verrett (questionable, foot) are on track to play Monday night. Both practiced fully Saturday after being limited early in the week. SS Jahleel Addae (questionable, ankle) should also start against the Steelers.
Jacoby Jones (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 5 against the Steelers.
Jones should be a game-time decision after returning to practice the last two days. He'll provide an upgrade on kick returns if active, but won't have more than a subpackage pass-game role.
Chargers LT King Dunlap (concussion) is listed as doubtful for Week 5.
Dunlap remains in the concussion protocol and will miss his second straight game. The Chargers offensive line should have C Chris Watt (groin) and RG D.J. Fluker (ankle) this week, but will be without Dunlap and LG Orlando Franklin.
Malcom Floyd (concussion) is questionable for Week 5 against the Steelers.
Floyd is expected to play despite the questionable tag. He practiced all week, but still needs to get fully cleared. Even with Steve Johnson sidelined, Floyd isn't more than a touchdown-dependent WR5.
Stevie Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Steelers.
Johnson will miss at least one game after not practicing all week. Antonio Gates will pick up Johnson's targets in the short pass game, with Malcom Floyd (questionable, concussion) playing a bigger role in two-wide sets. Johnson's injury locks in Keenan Allen as a top-12 receiver play.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns still view Justin Gilbert as a corner.
Gilbert has played only eight defensive snaps, but has taken on a bigger special teams role this year. The Browns have no plans to move him to offense despite getting him some practice reps there. Gilbert should continue to play in dime packages if Joe Haden (finger, questionable) doesn’t return this week.
