Tommy Milone will be recalled to start on Thursday against the Red Sox.

Milone has certainly earned the promotion, posting a microscopic 0.70 ERA and 47/3 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings at Triple-A Rochester. It could just be a spot start, assuming Ricky Nolasco (ankle) is ready to start on Saturday. Kyle Gibson will be pushed back to start Friday.

Jon Jay is not in the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.

Jay has now started just three of six games since being activated from the disabled list. Meanwhile, Randal Grichuk has been in the lineup five times over that span, making starts at all three outfield spots. Grichuk is in center field Wednesday.

Aramis Ramirez is absent from the Brewers' lineup Wednesday.

He's just getting some rest. Hector Gomez is handling third base while Ramirez rides the pine.
Jun 3 - 11:00 AM

Ryan Braun is not in the Brewers' lineup Wednesday.

It's just a routine day off. Gerardo Parra is in right field Wednesday as Braun sits, with Shane Peterson cover left.
Jun 3 - 10:59 AM

Joe Mauer is not in the Twins' lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Trevor Plouffe has moved across the diamond to play first base, with Eduardo Escobar filling in at third. Mauer will be back in there for the second game.

Dodgers director of player development Gabe Kapler said Tuesday that the club will decide within "a couple more days" which minor league affiliate to assign Hector Olivera to.

Olivera's contract with the Dodgers finally became official two weeks ago and he's been working out at extended spring training, playing both second and third base. "He clearly can handle either position," Kapler said. "He’s very athletic, takes very professional at-bats." The Dodgers aren't setting a timetable for when Olivera might join the major league roster, but he should be up at some point this season.
Jun 3 - 10:16 AM

Pablo Sandoval is not in the Red Sox' lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

He should be back in there for the nightcap. Brock Holt is at third base in the first game.
Jun 3 - 10:10 AM

Danny Duffy (biceps) will throw a simulated game on Thursday.

Duffy resumed throwing from a mound last Friday and is ready to take the next step. He'll likely be physically ready to rejoin the Royals before long but probably isn't a given to be re-inserted into their rotation.
