Ketel Marte (thumb) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment this week.

Marte was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 22 with a sprained left thumb. He expects to be activated when first eligible and would seem to be on track. "He’s swinging the bat," Mariners skipper Scott Servais said Sunday. "I think he’s going to hit in the cage with the actual BP thrower (early this week). ... That’ll kind of be the last test. If he gets through that, he’ll be ready to go out on the rehab after."
May 30 - 9:29 AM

Wilmer Flores (hamstring) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his return from the disabled list Sunday.

Flores started at third base in this one. He's also expected to see significant playing time at first base while Lucas Duda recovers from a serious back injury. Flores has some power (16 homers last year) and is worthy of attention in deeper mixed fantasy leagues while he is receiving regular at-bats for the Mets.

Denard Span (hip) went 3-for-5 with a homer in his return to the Giants' lineup Sunday.

That bruised right hip apparently wasn't too bad. Span is now slashing .268/.358/.363 with two home runs, 19 RBI, and 22 runs scored through 49 games this season.
May 30 - 8:38 AM

Mark Teixeira (neck) was retired in his one at-bat in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Teixeira has been held out of the Yankees' starting lineup since last Wednesday with renewed discomfort in his neck, but he was able to take batting practice ahead of Sunday's game and entered at first base in the seventh inning before lining out in the eighth. He might be ready to return to full-time duty on Monday. The veteran first baseman is batting .193/.292/.280 in 43 games this season.
May 30 - 8:35 AM

X-rays came back negative after Derek Dietrich was hit in the back of the head by a line drive which ricocheted off a wall in the dugout during Sunday's game against the Braves.

Dietrich went 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and a career-high four RBI before being hit by the liner in the ninth inning. He was on the ground for several minutes before eventually walking to the clubhouse, but never lost consciousness. He was expected to remain in Atlanta overnight for evaluation. The Marlins should have more information on his status on Monday.
May 30 - 12:26 AM

Adrian Gonzalez went 2-for-4 and drove home three runs on Sunday night as the Dodgers defeated the Mets 4-2 in New York.

Gonzalez delivered an RBI single off Bartolo Colon in the fifth inning that extended the Dodgers' lead to 2-0. After the Mets had rallied to tie the game in the eighth, he smacked two-run single off of Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the top half of the ninth to propel his club to victory. With his two-hit night, Gonzalez is now hitting .299/.376/.424 with five homers and 26 RBI on the season.
May 29 - 11:26 PM

Clayton Kershaw racked up 10 strikeouts against the Mets on Sunday night but settled for a rare no-decision after allowing two runs on four hits over his 7 2/3 innings.

Kershaw maintained his elite command as he didn't issue a walk in the ballgame. He departed with his club leading 2-1 and in line for his eighth victory, but Adam Liberatore was unable to get strand his inherited runner. Kershaw continues to post other-worldly numbers, compiling a 1.56 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 105/5 K/BB ratio through 86 2/3 innings on the year. Fantasy owners should expect more of the same when he toes the slab against the light-hitting Braves at home on Friday.
May 29 - 11:21 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera swatted a solo home run off of Clayton Kershaw on Sunday night, but it wasn't enough for the Mets to overcome the Dodgers.

Cabrera's sixth-inning blast pulled the Mets to within a run at 2-1. It was the lone hit in four at-bats on the night for the shortstop who is now slashing .277/.330/.401 with four homers and 18 RBI on the season.
