Giants activated OF Hunter Pence from the 15-day disabled list.
Dodgers recalled LHP Ian Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Thomas has posted a 6.48 ERA over six relief appearances in the majors this season. He won't be used in high-leverage situations.
Dodgers optioned LHP Eric Surkamp to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Sukamp was roughed up for four runs over 3 1/3 innings in a relief appearance Monday. He's replaced in the bullpen by Ian Thomas.
Jeremy Affeldt (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
It's the first time he's been on a mound since going down with a strained shoulder almost two weeks ago. A timetable for Affeldt's return isn't known, but he's obviously making progress.
Kolten Wong (head) is not in the Cardinals' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Wong banged his head while making a catch in the first game and had to exit. He passed concussion tests and is expected to be fine, but the Cards will rest him for the nightcap. Matt Carpenter is making a start at second base.
Mets transferred RHP Buddy Carlyle from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears space for Jenrry Mejia's return from suspension. Carlyle still isn't throwing as he works his way back from back and hip issues.
Mets optioned RHP Logan Verrett to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Verrett held a 2.95 ERA over 10 relief appearances. He should get another shot at some point.
Mets activated RHP Jenrry Mejia from the suspended list.
Mejia will be available to make his season debut on Tuesday after serving a PED suspension. The Mets plan to throw him into setup duties right away.
