Patrick Corbin lasted eight innings and allowed just one run Tuesday in a win over the Mets.

Amed Rosario homered in the fifth for the only run that Corbin has allowed in his last three starts. It's hard to believe that this is the same guy who had a 5.43 ERA after a dozen starts against a particularly easy early season schedule. He's come in at 2.92 in the last 12.

Filling in for Steven Matz, Tommy Milone gave up six runs -- five earned -- in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Milone spent the last three months on the DL with a sprained knee, though he did spend a full month pitching in the minors on a rehab assignment. He's given up 19 earned runs over 16 2/3 innings in his four starts for the Mets this year. How much longer he'll be needed in the rotation is anyone's guess.

J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer off the Mets' Tommy Milone in Tuesday's victory.

It's almost disappointing that he only hit one; Martinez came into the night batting .411/.507/.929 with seven homers in 56 at-bats against lefties and Milone was making his first MLB appearance in three months. Martinez has 26 homers overall this season.

Yasmani Grandal ripped a two-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Pirates.

He only had one hit on the night in five trips to the dish, but Grandal made it count by providing some extra cushion with a longball off of Edgar Santana. It's his third home run over his last six contests.

Johnny Cueto (forearm) worked three scoreless innings Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Cueto allowed three hits but issued zero walks and of most importance was that he looked healthy. The right-hander landed on the disabled list July 15 due to multiple blisters on his throwing hand and he was removed from a rehab start July 31 at High-A San Jose after suffering a flexor tendon strain. If everything goes smoothly from here, Cueto could be ready to return to the Giants' rotation around the second week of September.

Amed Rosario collected his third homer and his third triple Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

He's still sitting on one double, though. More of a concern is that he's walked just once and struck out 24 times in 76 plate appearances. He is 21 years old, though. He's batting .257/.276/.486 at the moment.

Starling Marte popped a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Marte's longball off of Brock Stewart in the third inning kicked off a five-run rally for the Pirates that erased the Dodgers' lead. Unfortunately for the Bucs, that was the only frame they scored in and the Dodgers eventually pulled away. Marte, though, has picked it up lately with a couple homers and a .389 average over his last eight contests.

Yoenis Cespedes reached all four times up Tuesday, going 3-for-3 with a walk against the Diamondbacks.

The good news is that Cespedes seems to have found his stroke, going 9-for-15 with a homer and two walks in his last four games. The bad is that he doesn't have as many guys to drive in and to drive him in now that the Mets have traded Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Lucas Duda and Neil Walker. They actually had Matt Reynolds playing right field tonight.
