Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Luke Carlin signed with the Indians to be a coach with Double-A Akron.
It was reported that Carlin had signed a minor league deal with the Indians, but it appears that his playing career is over. The 35-year-old made stops with the Padres, Diamondbacks, and Indians in the majors while batting .179/.263/.286 over 56 games.
Joe Panik (groin) could be available to pinch-hit Monday.
Panik is out of the lineup for the third straight game Monday with a minor groin injury. He could return as soon as Wednesday.
Padres recalled INF/OF Alex Dickerson from Triple-A El Paso.
Dickerson was off to a hot start in Triple-A and will provide some depth between the outfield and first base. The 25-year-old appeared in 11 games with the Padres last season.
Padres designated LHP Michael Kirkman for assignment.
The move clears a spot for Alex Dickerson on the active roster. Kirkman was called up last week and allowed four runs on six hits over 1 1/3 innings in his lone appearance.
Angel Pagan will miss a minimum of 4-5 days with a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring.
Pagan strained his hamstring while running the bases on Sunday. As of now, he's expected to avoid the disabled list. The Giants will go with a combination of Mac Williamson and Gregor Blanco in left field while he's sidelined.
Glen Perkins is still focused on strengthening his shoulder.
In other words, he hasn't resumed throwing, so there's really no news since the most recent update on him. He's still quite a ways off from rejoining the Twins' bullpen. Kevin Jepsen will continue to hold down the closer role for now.
Kyle Gibson (shoulder) has begun some light throwing.
Gibson hasn't pitched since April 22 due to a right shoulder sprain. He still has some hurdles to cross, but a return in mid-May appears within reach.
Carlos Gomez (ribs) did some baseball activity on Monday.
It's good news for Gomez, who will miss his third straight game Monday with soreness in his left rib cage. Astros manager A.J. Hinch is optimistic that he'll be able to return during the team's series against the Twins this week.
