Phillies recalled RHP Dalier Hinojosa from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Dalier Hinojosa has spent almost all season at Triple-A, posting a 3.02 ERA while striking out a batter per inning. He'll be used in middle relief.
Phillies recalled RHP David Buchanan from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
He'll start on Friday against the Braves. Buchanan holds a 7.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 19/18 K/BB ratio over 36 innings in seven starts for the Phillies this season.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Cubs have acquired Tommy Hunter in exchange for Junior Lake.
Hunter, who is a free agent after the season, holds a 3.63 ERA with 32 strikeouts over 44 2/3 relief innings this season. He'll help out the Cubs in a middle relief role. Lake is in the minors now but could get a look as an occasional corner outfielder.
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Rangers will keep Yovani Gallardo.
They entertained offers but ultimately decided they'd rather hang on to him an make him a qualifying offer after the season if he doesn't re-sign. Gallardo has really struggled his last three times out, which could have affected the quality of offers for him.
Blue Jays acquired OF Ben Revere from the Phillies for RHP Alberto Tirado and RHP Jimmy Cordero.
The Jays got a nice complimentary piece for their outfield. Revere shouldn't start over Kevin Pillar in center, but he can fill in there on occasion. He'll probably end up platooning with Chris Colabello in left field, giving the Jays more defense there at the cost of power. His fantasy value would seem to drop some, since he could hit low in the order and play less than he might have elsewhere. Still, he remains worth using in mixed leagues. The Phillies have freed up more at-bats for Domonic Brown and Cody Asche as they try to figure out their 2016 outfield.
Evan Drellich was told by an Astros source that the "ship has sailed" on Craig Kimbrel.
The Yankees also aren't getting Kimbrel, so it appears the reliever is probably staying put. The Astros could still acquire Aroldis Chapman to bolster their bullpen.
Phillies acquired RHP Alberto Tirado and RHP Jimmy Cordero from the Blue Jays for OF Ben Revere.
The Phillies are getting a couple of really hard throwers here, but both are strictly bullpen guys. Tirado has a 3.23 ERA and a 61/35 K/BB ratio in 61 1/3 innings as an A-ball reliever. Cordero has a 2.70 ERA in 50 innings of relief between high-A and Double-A. Tirado has the better chance of developing into a late-game guy in time.
Bruce Levine of 670thescore.com reports that the Mets have acquired Yoenis Cespedes from the Tigers.
The Tigers will receive pitching prospects Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa in return, but the Mets didn't blink in refusing to offer Zack Wheeler. Detroit pretty much had to deal Cespedes, as they're in seller mode and can't make him a qualifying offer after the season. He'll provide some much-needed thump to the Mets' lineup.
