Blue Jays recalled 1B Chris Colabello from Triple-A Buffalo.

The 31-year-old Colabello has been smashing the ball in Buffalo, hitting .337 with five home runs and a .975 OPS over 23 games. He started out red-hot for the Twins last season before cooling off. Keep an eye on him to see if he jumps out to a fast start when given at-bats, but he's most likely not going to be roster-able in any league other than the deepest AL-only ones. Jonathan Diaz was optioned to Triple-A to make room for the first baseman.

Blue Jays designated LHP Jayson Aquino for assignment.

The Blue Jays traded for Aquino from the Rockies during spring training. Last season, the 22-year-old owned a 5.13 ERA between High-A and Double-A. He's not close to the majors and should clear waivers.

Blue Jays optioned INF Jonathan Diaz to Triple-A Buffalo.

The Jays needed to make room for first baseman Chris Colabello and Diaz was one of the corresponding roster moves. Diaz had been called up to replace Jose Reyes (rib) on the active roster in late April, but only saw a few at-bats. He'll serve as minor league depth until the Jays need him again.

Cardinals optioned RHP Sam Tuivailala to Triple-A Memphis.

The move clears a spot for Tuesday's starter, Tyler Lyons, on the active roster. Tuivailala was just called up on Sunday and allowed one run over two innings in his lone appearance.

Cardinals recalled LHP Tyler Lyons from Triple-A Memphis.

Tim Cooney got the first opportunity as a fill-in option for Adam Wainwright (Achilles) last week, but now it's Lyons' turn, as he'll start Tuesday night against the Cubs. The 27-year-old had a 2.91 ERA and 26/6 K/BB ratio over his first 21 2/3 innings with Memphis this season and should be relevant in NL-only leagues for now. Marco Gonzales figures to be a candidate to join the rotation later this month.

Nationals prospect right-hander Reynaldo Lopez is expected to join High-A Potomac this week.

Lopez, 21, owns a 2.17 ERA with 7.5 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 over his first 18 starts and five relief appearances in pro ball. Baseball America ranked him as the No. 49 prospect in the game earlier this year. The move to High-A should be a good test for both him and Lucas Giolito.

Nationals prospect right-hander Lucas Giolito is expected to join High-A Potomac this week.

Giolito has been pitching at the team's spring training facility in Viera, Florida over the past month and now he's ready to report to a minor league affiliate. The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the game's top pitching prospects since his Tommy John surgery, posting a 2.20 ERA and a 110/28 K/BB ratio in 98 innings across 20 starts with Class A Hagerstown last season.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times speculates that Alex Cobb has a partial elbow ligament tear.

It's important to note that the Rays have not made any sort of announcement on Cobb's status, so Topkin categorized this as "informed speculation" after his recent setback and a new MRI. The belief is that the Rays will wait to see how he responds to rest and treatment, but if Topkin is correct, Tommy John surgery could very well be in his future. Stay tuned.
