Marcus Stroman (shoulder) will return to the Blue Jays' starting rotation this Saturday against the Angels.

Stroman was rained out of a second rehab start Monday at Double-A New Hampshire, but he did fit in a simulated game. The 27-year-old right-hander allowed two earned runs on a hit and four walks over 4 1/3 innings in his lone minor league rehab appearance June 13 with High-A Dunedin. This is probably a wait-and-see situation in fantasy leagues, given that Stroman had a brutal 7.71 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over his first seven starts with Toronto this season. He has been sidelined since May 9 because of right shoulder fatigue.

Maikel Franco is starting at third base and batting seventh for the Phillies on Wednesday afternoon against the Cardinals.

Franco is back in an everyday role in Philadelphia with J.P. Crawford out for the next 4-6 weeks due to a broken left hand. Franco has struggled offensively and defensively this season, but he does have good raw power and is capable of providing useful fantasy production when given regular at-bats.

Addison Reed said he feels "refreshed" after a week-long break from pitching.

Reed last appeared in a game for the Twins on June 13 and surrendered four runs -- three earned -- on five hits while recording only two outs in an ugly loss to the Tigers. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 9.45 ERA over his past nine outings, but his overall numbers for the season are relatively solid and he should work his way back into a high-leverage setup role in short order. That said, Trevor Hildenberger is probably the better fantasy stash behind Minnesota closer Fernando Rodney. Hildenberger hasn't allowed a run since May 18.

Phillies recalled INF Mitchell Walding from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Walding went 0-for-6 with six strikeouts during a short stay at the major league level a couple weeks ago. The 25-year-old has posted decent numbers this season at Triple-A but probably won't hold any fantasy relevance.

Phillies placed INF J.P. Crawford on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left hand.

Crawford suffered the injury in Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals when he get hit on the hand by a Luke Weaver pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning. He is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks. Mitchell Walding has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding 25-man roster move, but Maikel Franco figures to get the bulk of playing time at third base for the next month-plus.

Tigers recalled RHP Johnny Barbato from Triple-A Toledo.

Barbato will rejoin the Tigers' bullpen ahead of Wednesday's matinee game against the Reds. The 25-year-old right-hander has registered a 5.06 ERA in 5 1/3 innings (five appearances) this season at the MLB level.
Jun 20 - 9:55 AM

Tigers placed RHP Drew VerHagen on the 10-day disabled list with a broken nose.

VerHagen suffered the injury Tuesday night when he lost a relay throw in the lights and got struck in the face. It's unclear at this point how long he will be sidelined. Johnny Barbato will take the vacant spot in the Tigers' bullpen ahead of Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Reds.

Marlins released LHP Sean Burnett.

Burnett has logged just 6 1/3 innings at the major league level since the beginning of the 2014 season and he was working to a 5.49 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 19 2/3 innings this year with the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate. This may very well be the end of the road for the veteran left-hander, who turns 36 in September.
