George Springer homered, doubled twice, walked and scored three times as the Astros beat the A's 11-8 on Wednesday.

Springer should have been an All-Star last year, but Carlos Beltran got the nod over him in the outfield. It seems safe to say that he'll get the call this year, what with his 24 homers and .952 OPS to date. He's scored 62 runs and driven in 52 in 73 games.

Yonder Alonso left Wednesday's game with a right knee contusion.

Alonso fouled a ball of his knee late in Wednesday's loss to the Astros. As of now, the A's have no plans to send him in for X-rays. Consider the first baseman day-to-day moving forward.

David Paulino gave up four homers and seven runs in four-plus innings against the A's on Wednesday.

Paulino was given nine runs in the first three innings, but he just couldn't stay away from the long ball, even as he racked up eight strikeouts and walked none in his four-plus innings. After six starts, Paulino has a 6.52 ERA, despite a 34/7 K/BB ratio in 29 innings. He has to find a way to keep the ball in the yard in order to stick around. It's possible he'll be replaced with Charlie Morton due back soon.

Stephen Strasburg gave up three runs -- two earned -- and punched out 13 batters in an 8-4 win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

He surrendered a two-run homer to catcher Willson Contreras in the fourth inning, then let in an unearned run in the fifth. Strasburg allowed just four hits and one walk and turned in his fifth double-figure strikeout performance of the season. He improves to 9-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 16 starts.

Jesse Hahn was roughed up again Wednesday, surrendering six runs in two-plus innings against the Astros.

Everything was going swimmingly for Hahn a week ago, as he was sporting a 3.56 ERA in 65 2/3 innings. Since then, he's given up 15 earned runs while getting just 12 outs in his last two starts, which makes us wonder if he might be hurt again. His ERA is suddenly up to 5.30, and his rotation spot is probably in jeopardy.

Josh Reddick went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two steals against the A's on Wednesday.

Six steals in 66 games is a nice little surprise for Reddick owners. Not only does he have a career-high .856 OPS, but he's on pace to overtake his high total of 11 steals from 2012.

Bryce Harper went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI to help defeat the Cubs on Wednesday.

He doubled and scored in the first inning, drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in a run in the second inning, then roped an RBI double in the sixth. He has a .319 batting average, .422 on-base percentage, 18 home runs, 58 RBI and 58 runs scored. He stole 21 bases last year but only has two so far in 2017.
