Masahiro Tanaka finished off his excellent Grapefruit League showing by allowing two runs -- one earned -- over five frames versus the Tigers on Tuesday.

Tanaka recorded six strikeouts while walking two and yielding three base knocks. No one has pitched better than the Yankees right-hander this spring, as Tuesday was the first earned run he gave up across 23 2/3 innings, and he also boasts a 28/5 K/BB ratio. Tanaka looks ready to take on the Rays in Tampa on Sunday.

Michael Fulmer tossed five frames of one-run ball against the Yankees on Tuesday.

Fulmer walked three batters, but he struck out three and yielded just three hits in what might have been his best outing this spring. The Tigers are holding the reigning American League Rookie of the Year back until fourth game of the season as they monitor his workload a bit.

Aaron Judge belted a long solo home run versus the Tigers on Tuesday.

Judge, who is apparently still competing for the right field job, didn't start but came off the bench to take Bruce Rondon deep in the seventh inning. The towering outfielder has out-hit Aaron Hicks this spring, although both have played well. We're betting on Yankees manager Joe Girardi ultimately picking Judge.

Brandon McCarthy has won the final spot in the Dodgers' rotation.

He beat out Alex Wood, who will pitch out of the bullpen. McCarthy was probably going to get the spot, anyway, but Wood's hopes might have officially sunk when he was roughed up against the Reds on Tuesday. McCarthy holds a 4.85 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 7/1 K/BB ratio this spring. He should be deep mixed league worthy if he can stay healthy, although he might not have a rotation spot long with Julio Urias' impending arrival.

Marco Estrada whiffed five but permitted four runs on seven hits and two walks over four frames against the Phillies on Tuesday.

It wasn't the sharpest final tune-up before Estrada takes the ball on Opening Day, but it wasn't exactly alarming, either. The right-hander concludes spring training with a 4.76 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 13/5 K/BB ratio over 17 innings. He'll face the Orioles on the road next Monday.
Mar 28 - 11:30 PM

Aaron Nola lasted just 1 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, surrendering five runs on seven hits and a walk.

He did strike out four and will finish the spring with 23 punchouts over 19 1/3 innings. However, Nola hasn't been very sharp in his last four outings and will end Grapefruit League play with an 8.38 ERA and 1.81 WHIP. He has insisted that his elbow is fine, though. Hopefully that's the case.

Dodgers optioned LHP Adam Liberatore to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Liberatore entered spring training without any limitations following elbow surgery last October, but he held a 4.05 ERA and 1.65 WHIP over six appearances. He's probably best off fine-tuning things in the minors for a bit.
Mar 28 - 11:21 PM

Dodgers optioned RHP Josh Fields to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Fields pitched well down the stretch for the Dodgers last season, but his velocity was down this spring and he posted a 9.72 ERA over nine appearances. He'll try to get back on track in the minors before rejoining the big league bullpen.
