Max Scherzer was in dominant form in Friday's victory over the Padres, racking up a season-high 13 strikeouts over 8 2/3 innings of one-run ball.

The right-hander scattered three hits and a pair of walks in the contest. The only damage against him came on a solo homer off the bat of Ryan Schimpf in the fourth inning. He made a bit for his first complete game of the season, but he was lifted after hitting Ryan Schimpf to load the bases with two outs in the inning. Scherzer now boasts a 2.77 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 89/18 K/BB ratio across 68 1/3 innings on the season. He'll do battle against the Giants his next time out on Wednesday in San Francisco.

Ryan Schimpf clubbed a solo home run off of Max Scherzer in a losing effort against the Nationals on Friday.

His solo shot in the fourth inning would account for the Padres' only offense in the ballgame. He finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk. The epitome of a three true outcome hitter, Schimpf is now hitting .167/.304/.442 with 12 homers and 22 RBI on the season.

Luis Perdomo logged a quality start in Friday's loss to the Nationals, surrendering three runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

The right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the night while walking two. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Trea Turner launching a solo homer to lead off the game and Michael Taylor adding a two-run shot in the fourth. Still winless on the season, Perdomo will carry a 5.61 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into Wednesday's matchup against the Cubs.

Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) played six innings in his first minor league rehab game with High-A St. Lucie on Friday.

Cespedes went 0-for-2 plus a walk at the plate and scored a run. He'll stay on the rehab assignment through the weekend and could rejoin the Mets on Monday as long as he avoids any setbacks.

A.J. Griffin was lifted from Friday's start against the Blue Jays due to a left intercostal strain.

The good news, is that it isn't the dreaded oblique issue. It sounds as though this could still force Griffin to the disabled list though, or at the very least to miss one start. He has been clobbered in each of his last two outings and isn't a recommended fantasy option anyways.
May 26 - 8:19 PM

Adonis Garcia (heel) will begin his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

He's expected to need 4-5 games on his rehab assignment, with a return to the Braves likely coming next weekend in Cincinnati. Garcia has been on the shelf since May 16 due to Achilles tendinitis.
May 26 - 8:13 PM

Corey Kluber (back) pitched well in Friday's minor league rehab start with Double-A Akron, allowing just one hit over five shutout innings.

Kluber only struck out one on the night but was in complete command, setting down the final 13 hitters he faced in order. He needed just 47 pitches to complete five innings, throwing 33 of them for strikes. It seems likely he'll rejoin the Indians' rotation next week.
May 26 - 7:58 PM

A.J. Griffin was forced to leave Friday's start in the second inning due to an apparent injury.

The tram trainer came out and looked at Griffin's side before he was lifted. Before leaving, he did some damage to the ratios of his fantasy owners, serving up a grand slam homer to Devon Travis. Look for an update on his status shortly.
