Jon Gray pitched six innings of two-run ball to beat the Braves at Coors Field on Wednesday.

Gray has turned steadier of late, allowing three runs of fewer in five straight starts. Of course, it doesn't hurt that his last three starts have come against the dregs of the NL East (the Phillies, Marlins and Braves). He'll face Kansas City next time out and then probably get the Braves again afterwards.

Mike Foltynewicz was pounded for eight runs in 3 1/3 innings by the Rockies on Wednesday.

Folty has given up 14 runs over six innings in his last two starts, taking his ERA up to 4.75. Some trumpeted him as a breakout player earlier this year, but he currently has a higher ERA and far worse WHIP than last year (1.49 to 1.30).
Aug 17 - 1:51 AM

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI in Wednesday's 17-run outburst.

Reynolds is sitting at a Coors-aided 25 homers and 80 RBI for the season. He's hitting just .239/.317/.376 with six homers and 30 RBI in road games. Still, this will probably go down as his best season since 2011.
Aug 17 - 1:48 AM

DJ LeMahieu went 4-for-4 with a double and four runs scored against the Braves on Wednesday.

LeMahieu isn't hitting homers or stealing bases, but his average sits at .314 and he's up to 74 runs scored, including 41 in his last 45 games. It should be enough to make him a top-10 fantasy second baseman anyway.
Aug 17 - 1:45 AM

Elvis Andrus went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base as the Rangers pounded the Tigers 12-6 on Wednesday.

He also walked in the game just for good measure. The shortstop homered in the fifth, drove in two runs with a single in the sixth and added another RBI single in the seventh. Andrus is having by far his best season at the plate. Today's homer doubled his previous career high of eight set last year. He has a .299 batting average with 16 homers, 76 runs, 64 RBI and 23 stolen bases. He's playing the role of kingmaker in some fantasy leagues this year.

The Dodgers said after Wednesday's game that Yu Darvish left as a precaution because of back tightness.

Darvish had thrown 90 pitches while giving up three runs (all on solo homers) in six innings, so there's no guarantee that he was going to get through the seventh anyway. The hope is that this was nipped in the bud and will cause no further issue.
Aug 17 - 1:42 AM

Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Tigers.

His two-run shot in the third inning knocked starter Anibal Sanchez out of the game. The future Hall of Famer spent the first two months of the season on the disabled list with a calf injury but hasn't let that affect his performance since returning. He has a marvelous .313/.381/.549 triple slash with 13 homers and 52 RBI in 65 games.
Aug 17 - 1:34 AM

Nomar Mazara went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a win over the Tigers on Wednesday.

He belted a two-run shot off starter Anibal Sanchez in the second inning, then plated another run with a single in the sixth. The promising second-year outfielder is still one of the youngest players in the major leagues but you wouldn't know it from his performance. He has a .258 batting average with 15 home runs and 77 RBI in 108 games.
