Mariners recalled INF Nick Franklin from Triple-A Tacoma.

Franklin earned the promotion after batting .395/.469/.744 with four homers and 13 RBI over his first 11 Triple-A contests this season. While he has yet to play the outfield in any professional game, Franklin played there some in spring training and the rumor is that he could see some time there while up with the big club. He'd probably have to be used some in the outfield to have much fantasy value, as there's really no room for him to play anywhere else.

Mariners placed OF/1B Logan Morrison on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a right hamstring strain.

Morrison actually suffered the injury on Monday before he took an at-bat or went to his position. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. LoMo was off to a .150/.227/.150 start with no homers and no RBI in eight games so far this season.

Adam Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Wednesday's win over the Rays.

Neither of Jones' hits left the infield, as he bunted for a single in the fourth and then beat out a swinging bunt in the fifth that plated a run. The outfielder had been slated to sit out Tuesday's game due to illness before it was rained out, but he wound up not having to miss a contest.

Wil Myers - OF - Rays

Wil Myers went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

Myers was back up in the No. 2 spot in the batting order after being moved down for a few games, but it didn't help him snap out of his funk. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year had three hits on Opening Day but is batting just .171/.244/.195 since and has yet to hit a homer.
Apr 16 - 3:38 PM

Johnny Cueto spun a gem Wednesday, striking out 12 while giving up just three base hits in a 4-0 shutout win over the Pirates.

A one-out Andrew McCutchen double in the fourth inning was the only time all day the Pirates reached second base. Cueto even contributed a rare hit at the plate. The Reds right-hander only has one win to show for it but has been magnificent so far this season, posting a 1.50 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 35/8 K/BB ratio over 30 innings. He'll face the Pirates again next week.
Apr 16 - 3:35 PM

Francisco Liriano had a quality start but picked up a loss Wednesday, yielding three runs over seven frames against the Reds.

He struck out seven while allowing six hits and walking three. Liriano's stuff looked good, as the only real big mistake he made was in the seventh when Joey Votto got to him with a two-out, two-run homer. The southpaw is 0-3 but holds a solid 3.96 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 25 frames. He'll get the Reds again next week.
Apr 16 - 3:27 PM

Joey Votto belted a two-run shot in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Votto's blast off of Francisco Liriano in the seventh inning provided the Reds with a cushion in what had been a 1-0 game. The first baseman now has four longballs on the season and is batting a robust .327/.446/.615. It appears he's going to stick in the No. 2 spot for a while.
Apr 16 - 3:22 PM

Pedro Alvarez went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Reds to drop his season batting line to .161/.277/.446.

The Pirates had just three hits on the day and struck out 12 times. Alvarez has homered five times and driven in 10 runs to keep his fantasy value afloat, but there's a good chance he'll wind up hitting in the low-.200s again this season.
