Manny Pina went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Eric Thames took Edwin Jackson deep to lead off the fifth inning, and Pina followed with a longball of his own. The catcher also added a couple singles and a walk, reaching base four times on the night. Pina will continue to receive an uptick in playing time over the next few weeks while Stephen Vogt (knee) is out.

Eric Thames ripped a solo homer Tuesday versus the Nationals.

It was a long blast in the fourth inning that was the first of back-to-back shots, as Manny Pina followed Thames with a dinger of his own. The longball was Thames' first since he had a two-homer game on Independence Day. He has 24 on the season.

Travis Shaw belted a three-run homer and reached base four times in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

Shaw's blast came off of Edwin Jackson in the fourth inning and was one of three longballs that Jackson served up on the night. The Brewers' third baseman also had a single and drew a pair of walks. Shaw has been incredible in his first season in Milwaukee, as he's on pace for 37 homers, 116 RBI, 92 runs and 11 stolen bases.

Matt Wieters went hitless in four plate appearances Tuesday versus the Brewers and is now batting .246/.293/.380 on the season.

The low on-base percentage from Wieters is expected this point, but he's been a disappointment in the power department. The veteran backstop slugged four dingers in April but has just three since, and none so far in July.

Tim Beckham blasted a three-run homer on Tuesday, powering the Orioles to a 5-4 victory over the Orioles.

His three-run shot capped off a five-run uprising in the second inning off of O's starter Wade Miley. While it was his lone hit in four at-bats on the afternoon, it was the biggest blow in the game. He has filled in admirably for the injured Matt Duffy this season, hitting .262/.316/.419 with 12 bombs and 36 RBI.

Salvador Perez (rib) said he expects to catch Wednesday against the Tigers.

Perez made an early exit from Tuesday night's victory in Detroit after experiencing tightness around his rib cage, but he should ultimately be fine. The star catcher had a similar issue earlier this year, though that was on the other side of his body.

Cesar Valdez tossed six frames of one-run ball in Tuesday’s 4-1 victory over the Athletics.

Filling in for Aaron Sanchez (blister), Valdez limited the A’s to just five hits and one walk while notching four strikeouts. He threw only 77 pitches over his six innings, but since he had been pitching in relief lately Blue Jays manager John Gibbons decided that was enough. Valdez has no doubt earned another start, which will come Sunday against the Angels.

Mallex Smith went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI as the Rays bested the Orioles on Tuesday.

Smith got the game's scoring started with an RBI single in the second inning. He came around to score later in the frame on a three-run blast by Tim Beckham. The speedy outfielder is enjoying a nice season at the dish, slashing .293/.362/.401 with a pair of homers, nine RBI and 15 stolen bases.
