Jay Bruce - OF - Mets

Jay Bruce (back/hip) has been scratched from the Mets' lineup Monday.

Bruce has been dealing with soreness in his back/hip area and will now miss his fourth game out of the last five. Jose Bautista has replaced him in the lineup.

Wade Miley (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Biloxi later this week.

Miley got through a simulated game Sunday with no issues, clearing the way for his return to game action. He's not eligible for activation until July 9.

Rangers designated RHP Deck McGuire for assignment.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Elvis Andrus. McGuire was claimed off waivers last week.

Rockies re-signed RHP Jairo Diaz to a minor league contract.

The Rockies released Diaz last week but he's now back in the organization. He's been out nearly all of this season with a forearm issue.

Bradley Zimmer (shoulder) is slated to undergo an MRI.

Zimmer suffered a right shoulder injury during batting practice last week while at Triple-A Columbus and is still dealing with some lingering discomfort. The Indians hope the exam will give them more information to work with.

Kevin Kiermaier (thumb) is on track to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday.

It was reported previously that Kiermaier would return on Friday, but he must have talked his way into an earlier return. The outfielder will go through a workout with the Rays on Monday and then be activated the following day assuming all goes well. He's been out since mid-April with a torn ligament in his right thumb and went 7-for-17 (.412) with a triple and a double in five rehab games.

Cubs recalled LHP Rob Zastryzny from Triple-A Iowa.

Zastryzny has made one two-inning scoreless appearance for the Cubs this season. He'll give them another lefty in the bullpen while Brian Duensing is on bereavement.

He can be away for 3-7 games. Rob Zastryzny has taken Duensing's spot in the bullpen.
