Ian Desmond homered and doubled in four at-bats on Wednesday night.

His two-run bomb in the fifth inning was his 20th home run of the season. He is having an excellent bounce-back season with a .308/.359/.527 batting line. He has added 71 runs, 60 RBI and 16 stolen bases as well. He has already matched or exceeded his production totals from last year and still has two months to go.

Freddie Freeman had an absolute monster day at the plate on Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with a homer and five RBI to lead the Braves in a 9-7 victory over the Twins in Minnesota.

Freeman came through with run-scoring singles in each of the first two innings, then clubbed a two-run homer in the fourth to increase the Braves' early advantage to 7-0. He added an RBI double in the sixth to provide a valuable insurance run. Freeman also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances, and swiped his fourth base of the season. With the four-hit attack, he raised his season slash to .280/.363/.517 to go with 18 homers and 41 RBI.
Jul 27 - 11:37 PM

Jurickson Profar went 3-for-5 and scored a run in the Rangers' loss on Wednesday.

One of the hits was a double. The former top overall prospect in baseball is finally healthy enough to help his fantasy owners. He is hitting .296/.349/.414 in 162 at-bats. Having played multiple games at every position except pitcher and catcher this year, his positional eligibility provides a huge boost to his fantasy value. Profar looks set to play pretty much every day moving forward unless the Rangers bring in some competition via trade or promotion.
Jul 27 - 11:35 PM

Michael Foltynewicz had a rough outing against the Twins on Wednesday, but still wound up as the winning pitcher despite allowing six runs on 12 hits over his five-plus innings of work.

Foltynewicz struck out three and didn't issue a walk in the contest. He was staked to an early 7-0 lead and tried his best to give it all back, but still wound up on the winning end of the decision. He'll try to improve upon his 4.30 ERA and 1.30 WHIP when he takes on the Pirates at home on Tuesday.
Jul 27 - 11:33 PM

Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Twins fell to the Braves in a slugfest on Wednesday night in Minnesota.

Suzuki's two-run blast came off of Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz in the fourth inning, pulling the Twins to within four runs at 7-3. He's enjoying a nice bounce-back season behind the plate for the Twins, hitting .292/.328/.447 with six long balls and 35 RBI.
Jul 27 - 11:32 PM

Tyler Duffey was obliterated on Wednesday, giving up five runs on eight hits in just 1 1/3 innings in a losing effort against the Braves.

Duffey walked one and didn't record a strikeout in the abbreviated outing. Just when Twins fans thought it couldn't get any worse after Duffey surrendered six runs over 2 1/3 innings his last time out, he was even worse against a struggling Braves offense on Wednesday. This could be the straw that forces him out of the Twins rotation before he has a chance to take on the Indians in Cleveland on Monday.
Jul 27 - 11:32 PM

Adam Wainwright was touched up for four runs in 6 2/3 innings but escaped with a no-decision as the Cardinals came back to beat the Mets 5-4 on Wednesday.

He was sailing along like an ace until the seventh inning, when he gave up three runs, including two on a Yoenis Cespedes home run. He allowed 11 hits and one walk and fanned four. It was his first (and last) bad start of the month. Wainwright has really turned things around since his awful slump early in the season. His record holds at 9-5 with a 4.16 ERA. Due to two Cardinals off days he won't start again until Wednesday of next week in Cincinnati.
Jul 27 - 11:26 PM

Hunter Pence (hamstring) hit the third home run of his minor league rehab assignment in Wednesday's game with Triple-A Sacramento.

Pence has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery to repair his right hamstring in early June. While he has suffered several setbacks while recovering from that procedure, the veteran outfielder is finally starting to put it together during his current rehab stint. CSN Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic writes that the Giants are "[leaving the] door open for [an] early return." A reunion this weekend is not out of the question.
